Damn billionaires.

Bezos, the walking penis head, is up to this. Rotterdam may
dismantle historic bridge for $637M superyacht linked to Jeff
Bezos.

/> Meanwhile the giant dick treats workers like robotic slaves.
Elon Musk is, every day, seeming to act like a Nicola Tesla
character with even less self restraint. Tesla vehicles, by the
way, are almost at the bottom of the reliability list. A
massive recall last year for numerous safety defects.

Stop signs? Not so important to Tesla vehicles. 50,000 recalled
for rolling through stop signs without stopping. Meanwhile all
his attention seems to be on colonizing some planet somewhere
just because. Hell, Elon, how about improving your vehicles?
Then there is the human (I think he might be human) robot,
Zuckerberg, who, for some reason, has no problem using
algorithms to pit users against each other and promote
insurrectionist posts while building a monopoly of social media.
Too much money clearly turns a lot of idiots into arrogant,
heartless jerks. And tax avoiders. Musk did finally pay a huge
tax bill but it was only because he sold a boatload of stock and
could not avoid it.
Sorry. The bridge thing set me off. Needed to vent. It just
feels like the robber baron days all over again.

There must be something missing in this story. The boat builder
must have had plans for this at the time of the commission.
Although the mayor has said no request has been made yet,
presumably there is a process, but I also read that they planed,
not to dismantle it again, after a renovation in 2017.
What's the point of a bridge that never gets used anyway? Its
permanently in the open position, with the span raised. I am
sure a local would be able to tell me about the history, at a
distance, as an outsider, I just have no idea what it is, that
makes it worthy of keeping.

proved an obstacle to shipping and it was redeveloped as a lift
bridge in 1927. It was the first bridge of this kind in western
Europe.

> Plans to demolish the railway line and bridge in 1993 were
abandoned after widespread protests from local residents. The
line was removed but the bridge was left in place as a
Rijksmonument national heritage monument.
