Seems like the UK is not being too helpful to Ukrainian
refugees.

I see someone mentioned India in the other place's Ukraine
thread, with predictable results.
I made a choice to have my account restricted so I wouldn't be
able to post there, it's still fun to watch those who use to
frustrate me without having the ability to respond.
Be excellent to one another...

Yup, Bipat's at it again, only Indians matter & it's fine for
India to align itself with China & abstaining from the UN
resolution vote. Looking forward to a ban now from BE following
my latest post.
Nice quote from a Ukrainian refugee arriving in Budapest
"The Hungarian border officials and immigration were very
helpful, everything went very, very quickly and swiftly. We even
got a free train ticket to Budapest! Thank you very much for
everything!”
Bit different to the UK stance.

... and Bipat bit, as expected - but this time she got smacked,
instantly.... although as the single-minded Hindu propagandist
she is, she still tried to divert and disrupt the thread to suit
her purposes. I make no apologies for criticising India - more,
I think all aid should be diverted immediately to Ukraine from
India, a country that chooses to allow its people to wallow in
poverty whilst building nuclear bombs and space rockets.
Despicable and contemptible.... nothing more.

Canada to ban russian crude oil.Mostly symbolic since Canada
hasn't imported any oil from Russia in 3 years.

The part of Germany's new plans that I like is construction of 2
new LNG seaports so they can start cutting Russia out of the
European energy equation. Let them sell it to China.
Meanwhile Kharkiv has been taking a pounding. Maybe Putin hopes
gutting Ukraine's second largest city will encourage them to
give up Kyiv to save it, and maybe pigs can fly.
Edit: When I see sources indentified as 'people with knowledge
of the matter' I'm usually skeptical, but even as a rumor this
is intriguing. If China is now reluctant to finance
international purchases of Russian oil, could that mean they're
shooting for control of their business? If, under the guise of
aiding their ally they could buy Russian oil at a low price and
re-sell it, they get a cash cow to hedge against any losses they
experience from loss of exports. Because I know little about
finance, it could be that this one bank is insignificant and
won't affect sales too much, and if it is important, it will be
in the news again.

Seems Russia has reverted to the tactics employed in Hungary in
'56.
Just blast away indiscriminately at anything in their sights.

Supposedly (and everything is suppostion) there are arguments in
many Russian families where the younger prople get much of their
news from social media, have most to lose from the war and have
no memories of past crises and the older generation who only get
news from state media and buy in to the Putin byline.

The USA has (belatedly) closed its airspace to Russia.
Russian and Belarusian athletes at the Paralympics will only be
able to compete as neutrals, they will compete under the
Paralympic flag and Russia and Belarus will be excluded from the
medals table.
If I was Putin and looking for support, I think I'd have grave
doubts about having China as a friend........
