Canada has closed its airspace to Russian aircraft, effective
       immediately.

I applaud the bravery - and the clarity - of the woman, nobody
       could claim she held back!
I also feel for the soldier. He seems clearly uncomfortable to
be there.... being berated in Russian by his "mother".

Perhaps it is time for the globe's citizens to start boycotting
Chinese products, at least until they withdraw their crutch.
I'm surprised the Ukrainians haven't made a bigger deal about
the large Chinese expat population there, a few well planted
Chinese flags in pictures of rubble might help...

Germany, as the country most affected by any cuts in Russian
energy, has now not only reversed its position on banning Russia
from Swift, but have also voted to overturn their policy of not
supplying lethal weapons..... Probably best that there are no
markings in german though - imagine how old botockskij would
       spin that!
The EU have closed all airspace to Russian aircraft - including
oligarch's private jets, plus supported the provision of lethal
aid to Ukraine. Clearly Ursula is not happy with little Volodya.

       Possibly India as well.

Russia closed it's airspace to 30+ countries; no surprise there.
India is going to send humanitarian aid in an attempt to stay
off the spit list and keep their business with Russia. In other
news Ukrainians and Russians are negotiating at the border, but
I can't see that amounting to much. If I'm wrong and they
declare a ceasefire I'll be happy. The first emergency session
of the UN General Assembly in 40 years is polling the members,
and I expect that will result in a major condemnation of Russia
and a pledge to provide humanitarian aid. In Ukraine a column
of tanks 3 miles long is sitting outside of Kyiev poised to
attack, and Belorus is lined up at the border waiting to join
in. If the Ukrainians had fighter cover and some A-10's they
could shred all that armour, but the drones they got from Turkey
are still doing a decent job even if they don't have enough of
them. Targeting BUK rocket launchers in columns with the
drones, maybe hoping for secondary damage and instructing
civilians and soldiers to hit fuel trucks when possible seems to
be working for now, but it can't last for long once the Russians
consolidate their supply route. Videos showing Russian soldiers
looting cash machines and grocery stores indicate they aren't
       well supplied.
Regarding using Asian troops when Russians are reluctant to
fight other easterners: I don't think that is why they were
used. I heard a veteran reporter give an interview after the
Red Army seized Kabul, and he said the pattern was identical to
previous invasions where he was on the scene. He'd been in
Hungary in '56, Czechoslovakia in '67, and then Afghanistan
covering those invasions and present at the airports. He said
the first plane would land at the airport and all these short
       brown soldiers would run off.
Mongolian shock troops with red bands around their helmets, and
they'd race through the streets and kill everyone they saw,
effectively putting people inside and scared. The next plane
would have the puppet government ready to start work, and when
people looked out their windows the next day there was a tank at
       every main intersection.
He also said the Mongolians had to be handled carefully and kept
away from other Warsaw Pact troops, because for some reason they
liked to kill the Albainians when they could. Here's a pic of
the 2nd wave lined up in Belorus:

A small but positive note - Hungarian charities have asked for a
temporary moratorium on donations, because they have been
       overwhelmed!

I have been around for a long time. Volodymyr Zelenskyy is, for
me, the most respected hero of my lifetime.
