Farage claims Russia is doing this because of NATO (and EU)
       expansion.
Yet where is he more likely to be threatened by NATO, on borders
with Norway, Estonia and Latvia which are NATO members with
adjoining borders with Russia, or in South Ossetia and eastern
Ukraine where the neareast border with any NATO member is
       hundreds of miles away?

       Flightradar24.
  HTML https://www.flightradar24.com/48.14,20.47/6
The 3 most tracked flights in Eastern Europe right now are all
US Air Force, a UAV over the Black Sea, and two refuelling
tankers (1 over Romania, the other over southern Poland).
FORTE, NCHO and LAGR callsigns usually appear regularly, even
       when there's no conflict.
And those are just the ones verified.....

Well Russia has certainly noticed the drones flying around the
       Black Sea.
Russian defense ministry spokesperson Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov
said in a statement on Saturday. “During the attack by Ukrainian
boats over the provocation area, US strategic unmanned aerial
vehicles RQ-4 'Global Hawk' and MQ-9A 'Reaper' were overhead.”
“It is highly likely that it was American UAVs that directed
Ukrainian boats at the ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet,”
       Konashenkov said.
       US statement:
“Russian claims that the United States was involved in any way
with Ukrainian naval operations near the Zmiiny Island are
false. We did not provide ISR or any other support. Chalk this
up to just one more lie by the Russian Ministry of Defense,” he
       told CNN.

I am happy to believe that Ukraine is fighting back valiantly
and i hope they are being successful.
However, claims of vast numbers of Russian personnel killed or
captured and vehicles destroyes, whilst no such figures for
Ukrainian losses makes me doubt the veracity of the reports.
Handing out automatic weapons to anyone (if that is true) smacks
to me of desperation, not of a government in control. I know
that many Ukrainians have had military experience and I hope it
is these reservists who are being armed.... not just anyone.
Disinformation comes from all sides in war - as they say, the
first victim of was is the truth.

I would call being under attack by Russia, buildings being
shelled and citizens dying would count as a desperate situation.
Ukrainians are a brave people who will stand and fight. While
you, and I to be fair, have no idea what it is like to be in
that situation. Ukrainians do. Providing to all who can fight
is quite rational is such a situation. Try being supportive
instead of a naysayer. I grew up in a neighborhood of
       Ukrainians. Good and proud people.

The war progresses: Armoured units are fighting each other,
planes and helicopters are dealing death out on the ground and
are being shot down, some Russian armoured vehicles have run out
of fuel and been surrounded by the locals, nothing they can do
about it, civilians are pelting Russian vehicles with homemade
firebombs, some cities have been taken and retaken while some
are still in Russian hands, some Russians have been captured,
some have surrendered (in one or two cases in groups), Russians
blew up a pipeline (creating an impressive fireball and probable
ecological disaster), Zelensky is agreeing to meet with Russians
without preconditions at Pripyat on the Belarus border, a unit
of Chechyn ringers may be responsible for some atrocities (one
video in particular is very disturbing) so I hope Russian
prisoners captured by civilians don't get skinned alive in
retribution, international condemnation of Russian aggression
outside of the BRICS bloc seems seamless (even Serbia offered
humanitarian aid and a lukewarm statement about supporting the
integrity of Ukraine's borders, sanctions are being ramped up,
there appears to be a run on the bank in Russia, and Putin has
put his nuclear defense forces on high alert.
edit; No Russians allowed, lol! Canada closes airspace to
Russian planes so I hope their ambassador is able to get a ride
       home.

And now EU airspace is closed to all Russian planes, and their
propaganda organs have been banned, and Lukashenko gets a swift
       kick in the ribs too.
