Over 2 weeks in and Russian armour has (reportedly) taken
advantage of temporarily frozen ground, left the highway and
deployed in positions to shell Kyiev into submission. If it's
true that the facility from which Ukraine controls the Baktyar
drones has been destroyed they lose a major anti-armour
capability. Hopefully they have a backup of some sort in place.
If I started seeing new video of drone strikes it would make my
day. Lots of people post news that's 3-5 days old as if it just
happened. Javelin shoulder-fired missiles have a range of about
2km so I expect the Russians to try and keep ground contact well
outside that range.

The latest news is that 2 Russian planes bombed targets in
Ukraine, then continued over the border into Belarus and dropped
bombs on a village there in order to fabricate a reason for
Belarus to enter the war, as if they weren't in it already. All
I've seen is a photo of some smoke and a post saying the attack
was observed from a border check point. Something like this has
been predicted for quite awhile.

2 drones emanating from Ukraine have passed through Hungarian (&
Croatian) airspace. One disappeared, the other crashed near
Zagreb.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov warned the United
States about the potential consequences of transferring weapons
to Ukraine.
"We warned the United States that pumping Ukraine with weapons
from a number of countries orchestrated by them is not just a
dangerous move, but these are actions that turn the
corresponding convoys into legitimate targets," he added.

According to CNN, Russia on Sunday sent missils to the city of
Lviv and hitting a large military base close to the Polish
border.
Google maps places Yavoriv military base approx 25km from
Poland, the base as previously held drills with Ukraine & NATO
including the US.
I would like to think Putin is a suicidal crazed loon but I am
losing my faith in that, and a part of me is thinking, he may
just be crazy enough to try and provoke a war with NATO.
Russian forces on Sunday killed American journalist Brent
Renaud, Ukraine confirming his identity with his US Passport,
Colombian-American photographer Juan Arredondo was injured and
in hospital.
Schools, civilians, hospitals, seems he is so depserate he will
kill anyone and everyone at this point.
US national security adviser Jake Sullivan said Sunday that
while the White House is concerned about a possible nuclear
escalation with Russia, they haven't yet seen anything from
Russia that would require the US to change it's nuclear posture.

What he is, is the perfect security chief, born to it, educated
for it, and brilliant (and ruthless) enough to use every
advantage that came his way. Did you know his grandfather was
Stalin's cook?

I followed a bunch of tiktok posters from Ukraine and some of
the foreign fighters that have gone there to get up to date
news, and some of that has been very good, but I found this
Reddit thread that compiles news stories as they are broadcast,
and it helps establish the timeline a bit.

Have to laugh! Relatives in UK visiting Italy in a couple of
weeks. Not coming to Hungary? No, bit too close to the war!

Russia doing its usual, avoid directly fighting the opposition
just randomly blow up apartment blocks.

Some refugees have just arrived in our block, youngish couple
with child. Looking tired & bewildered, as you would expect -
but smiling!
