And here is another perspective......

For the purpose of class this week, and a focus on balancing the
solar/masculine/generative with the lunar/feminine/receptive
forces then, inbreath is lunar/feminine/receptive and gets
which syllable? Thanks!

OK, so as I go through tomorrow's practice, here's where I get
hung up theory wise. In breath-feminine, lunar, receptive; out
breath-masculine, solar, generative. Moving through the poses
though, doing a sun salutation for example, generally the in
breaths are on the expansive poses (mountain, cobra, lunge) and
the outbreaths are folding and turning in-standing forward bend,
plank transition down before up to cobra or updog. Feels to me
like the folding poses are more inward/feminine/lunar, yet they
are associated with an outbreath and vice versa. So when I work
through it and talk the talk in my head, I get myself muddled!

great thoughts, questions, links, comments. excellent work!
this has been a really challenging class for me to, but very
effective. How did it go for you?
in breath = feminine/ out breath = masculine. I hope my plan
didn't confuse that.... it took me a bit to get that.
for me the out breath/masculine is grounding and assertive. I
see 'assertive' as the opposite of 'receptive' in this practice.
Receptivity without assertiveness can lead to lack of conviction
or strength. Assertiveness without receptivity can lead to
aggressiveness. Does that make sense?
expanding/receiving/softening with the in breath and grounding
thru feet while lifting heart and crown on the out breath was
very effective. For you?

It worked pretty well last night. I explained in my little talk
that we need both aspects (M/F) to get into/be in the posture. I
tried to find these two aspect in each posture we did. For
instance, spinal twist: F part was upper body light, soft and
receptive, M part - lower body, especially sit bones grounding
into the cushion, etc. I think everybody got it.
I worked with Tha being feminine, and Ha masculine. This is what
we did on Monday night.
It's been a very challenging class. I had to concentrate on
several aspects...my brain was exploding by the end of it, but I
did it!
