What? No you don't Rapid.
If you use silk touch and place and break a block with it.. you
don't lose anything, you just get $40 total. I have no idea how
you came to that conclusion. lol
If this were true, if I build something, as a builder, I would
lose money when I break it.. the opposite of what you are
saying. This is not the case at all.

Yup :D
You don't lose anything for placing blocks, ever. You can only
gain money with the jobs, not lose it.
