VHF Radio

Just checking to see if anybody has a lead on a good used VHF
Radio .
Already have a CB, but find that it's next to useless,

Going to be switching over as well... I will keep my eyes open
for deals.
We are planning to take the course this year along with Sailing
lessons and chart plotting course..... We will see where that
leads in a few years ;D

Hi mike, What course are you taking ? is it for a VHF radio
license ? my understanding is , you just have to fill out a form
with the radio serial number along with $40.00 & you are good to
go.

I am planning to do the course as I am looking to be licensed
for a Marine radio. However, I am also planning to buy a couple
hand held radios for hunting as the FRS/GMRS radios we have now
just don't offer enough distance due to the line of sight
operation... I was of the understanding that operating any
UHF/VHF radio that could transmit required licensing. Looks like
I have some research to do.
Where did you find the info that stated $40 plus the S/N was all
you needed?? If this is the case it would make my decision to by
the hand heald's a lot easier.

Communications, as well as a quote for an ICOM VHF Radio, hopes

No longer need to seek out a good used VHF radio, after watching
on Craigs List, I came across a brand new one , with all the
necessary programs installed , that was still in the box
,unused, made a deal , now , just have to install it.
