Aleppo Pine Seedling Cutting

What is the group's experience with Aleppo pines?
Has the seedling cutting technique ever been successfully
performed?
I've tried it for the last 2 years but never had any success.
Would like to know if anyone is into the species.

Hi Yes some of our members do have Aleppo pines as bonsai.
please can you clarify exactly what you mean about the 'seedling
cutting technique'?

Hi Alfred,
Thanks for the reply. The seedling cutting technique is one used
mostly on JBP. Jonas Dupuich and Mark Comstock have chronicled
it in various articles or facebook feed. For more info one can

It's main aim is to achieve a radial root base. I've tried it
for 2 years with Aleppo pine seedlings but never had any luck.
Since you said that some members have experience with Aleppos,
would you by any chance know when is the best time of year to
decandle them? I am ground growing a couple of 4 year old ones
and besides have a couple of dozen 1 year old ones, so i'm still
quite a long way away from having one i'd decandle for refinment
purposes.

Yes I have heard about this but I never knew that the seedling
cuttings were cut this way i.e. so high up. I have tried and
succeeded with another species, aberia caffra, but I made the
cut just above where the roots started to grow.
If you are into Aleppo pine for bonsai you need to see and study
the following lectures by Ryan Neil...Aleppo pines are two flush
pines.

Thanks Alfred,
Seen all of those videos. The Ryan Neil ones are really
informative. I've watched and enjoyed most of your videos on
your channel too. Aleppo pines are my favorite trees, but due to
our limitations on our islands, Yamadori are out of the question
and growing from seed takes years. We'll get there in the end.
