Yeah too early to write off Candelario. But to say he's lived
up to some of the hype or expectations that were associated with
him the last couple of years, I really don't think that could be
said either.

Candelario is also still just 19, is (just like Vitters was at
that level) the youngest player on his team, and is one of the
younger players in the league.

It's hard to say any hitting prospect has taken a huge leap
forward or been super impressive. The ones who have are mostly
second or third tier guys, like Shoulders or Bruno.
I guess if you were going to take stock of our position player
prospects so far, it could look something like this:

I'm not sure why Sczur's stock would be down. I mean, this is
what he is - he's never OPS'd .800 in the minors except for once
(.801) when he was repeating a level at Daytona. He's never hit
for any power and he's not now, but he's certainly been far
better than he was after the promotion last year. He is what he
is - never a really good prospect to begin with, but his stock
certainly hasn't gone down this year.

I guess I have him as stock down mostly because whatever hope
there was that he could be more than a future 4th outfielder or
mediocre starting CF'er are starting to dwindle. Maybe my own
hopes for him were too high to begin with.
Borderline either way I guess.

I think that could be said for Vitters, too, JR. Frankly, on
anybody on the list, every year that goes by without improvement
is stock down.

I'd agree with that, and I almost had Vitters and Jackson in my
stock down category for that very reason. I guess putting guys
in broad based categories in meaningless exercises like this
isn't always easy.
As for Vitters, I don't think he's played enough yet to show
whether he's changed any one way or the other, so that's why I
wound up sticking him in the unchanged category.

I can honestly say that from my perspective, it was impossible
for Vitters' stock to go down.

I'm not all that high on Vitters, but the guy did hit .304 with
an .869 OPS as a 22 year old in Triple-A. I still think there's
at least a little late bloomer potential with him.
Maybe not a whole lot, but at least a little.
