Spellcheck didn't look like anything special until he was 27.
Sczcur's football background and athleticism just might make him
       another late bloomer.

He's playing CF in EXS. Cub's Den is speculating he'll be in
Kane County in a couple of weeks.

Almora got injured in his first or second game back. Ankle or
something? I think he's just now coming back from that injury.

per Arizona Phil, Almora played and was 0-4 today in EST. Also
on that team, Phil reports "Reggie Golden drilled a two-run
single, an RBI double, and a triple...leading the Cubs to a 6-4
victory over the Rockies in Cactus League Extended Spring
Training action... After beginning the Cactus League Extended
Spring Training schedule mired in a 1-22 slump... Reggie Golden
has been on fire, hitting 423/483/692 over his last nine games"

Road rash or a strawberry. He was still doing drills, just not
       playing in games.

clip as he has in the past (and improve on it) to go along with
the extra stolen bases. That's the difference in a guy being an
anti-awful starter/4th outfielder and a guy who can be an
       all-star.
       >
       > I guess that's just the problem with I've had with Szczur.
When he's hitting well and finally has a new level figured out,
the absolutely only thing missing from his profile is extra base
hits. His K and BB ratios are usually very good, so he usually
has a nice BA and OBP. If he can develop some modest pop, he
can be a force at the top of a lineup and be pretty much the
perfect leadoff hitter to have setting the tables for
(hopefully) Baez, Soler, Rizzo, etc. down the road.
       >
       > The Hendry/Wilken scouts always seemed to be a lot more
bullish on Szczur's potential for hitting with 10-20 home run
power than just about everyone else, though. I guess we'll see.
Unfortunately, if anything in the early going this season, his
power is taking a slight step backwards instead of forwards.

If he has virtually no power, but gets on base and scores runs,
while playing nice CF defense, he can be a cornerstone piece on
       a dominant team.

If you ever wanted some ammo to use against Keith Law, just
revisit his 2012 Cubs Top 10 Prospects list.
Zach Cates was #5, ahead of Welington Castillo, Matt Szczur, and
others. Reggie Golden was #9. Vogelbach wasn't even listed.
