Since he had stolen second base originally, he must be the first
player in history to both steal second base and been out
stealing second base while making only one appearance in the
inning.

Valbuena pops out. I can't believe the Cubs are going to lose
yet another game they should've won pretty easily.

By the way, another wrinkle that makes the Segura play even
weirder. If the Cubs had tagged Segura--even when he was
standing on first base--before the next pitch was thrown, he
would've been out. But for some reason, they didn't do that.
They just let him stand there.

Borbon caught stealing to end the game...slid too early, and I
don't think he ever made it to the base. Ugh, just more sloppy
play. He fits right in.

So what exactly was Segura's status when he was standing on
first base? Was he a baserunner? Had the batter hit a ground
ball, could the Cubs have forced Segura out at second? If he
somehow wasn't entitled to first base, and the Cubs had tossed,
say, a grounder to second over to the shortstop to get the
"force" and then jogged off the field, thinking they had three
outs, would the umps have called them back onto the field?

Just so frustrating. The Brewers tried to give that game away,
and the Cubs just wouldn't take them up on it.

Samardzija's basically had one bad inning in 4 starts and is
1-3.
He's going to want a fortune to stay with this team.
