Gregg hasn't pitched in a game in 15 days. Probably not the
best planning to bring him into a 1 run game in an inning one of
the top 5 hitters on the planet is due up.

out of control. Should've been Russell's inning.

the pitchers who are likely to get torched this inning.

game that the Cubs still had an outside chance of coming back to
win?

It isn't so much that Gregg hasn't pitched in 15 days. It's more
that he is awful.

What just happened? Weirdest play I've ever seen, and I think
it should've been a double play.

For anyone not watching...Segura on second, Braun on first.
Segura picked off, Braun had moved to second, and Segura went
back. They're both on the base. Cubs tag Braun, then tag
Segura. Braun called out. For some reason, Segura runs back to
first, and he is allowed to stay there. (Replay shows Segura was
tagged after he left second base, so he should've been out).
Then Segura tries to steal second again a few pitches later, and
Castillo nails him to end the inning. Weird. So Segura stole
second, stole first, and got caught stealing second in the same
inning.

I've got the Yahoo box score on, and somehow Segura was out at
third while Weeks struck out and Braun was caught stealing 2-4.
Was it some kind of botched double steal or hit-and-run?
Whatever it was, Camp recorded 1 batter faced and 3 outs.

I have been watching baseball for more than 60 years, but have
never seen or heard of this play.
Braun on first base and Segura on second base.
Segura tries to steal third but is caught between bases. He
goes back to second base as Braun also goes into second base.
The Cubs tagged Braun and Segura. Braun is called out. Segura
left second to go to the dug out. He then stopped at first.
Since he had not been called out at second, he essentially stole
first base.
To make things worse, on the next pitch, he tried to steal
second, and was out stealing.
