Yeah going to this bullpen this early was a definite mistake.

Went back and watched it again...the fan didn't touch the ball,
but I think he may have touched Schierholtz's glove. Pretty
       close.

       I thought so too, JR.

I guess Len and JD aren't talking about it? I unfortunately am
stuck with the awful Thom Brennaman, and they didn't even
acknowledge that dumbass Reds fan's existence.

Yeah I just looked back at it, and it almost looked to me like
       he did too.
I guess if he did, Schierholtz would have said something, but
then again, he could have thought that was the impact of the
wall against his glove. I'm at least surprised Sveum didn't
come out to say something about it.
That Reds fan also ought to be kicked out of the stadium. That
       was pretty ridiculous, regardless.

Games like this always remind me of this game that I attended:

  HTML http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/ATL/ATL200906020.shtml
Randy Wells carried a no hitter into the 7th (the latest I've
ever seen a no hitter in person), and a shutout into the 8th.
With the Cubs up 5-0, the Braves got a ground ball single in the
7th, then Garret Anderson hit a homer to start the 8th. Even
though Wells was still at 83 pitches and the Anderson ball was
the only hard hit ball of the night, Lou pulled him. Then all
hell broke loose once Marmol and Gregg came into the game. And
the Cubs lost it in 12. That is what this game feels like.

The Cubs broadcast replayed the play a few minutes ago, and the
fan definitely touched Schierholtz's glove. It didn't impact
the play...but that's probably still interference, isn't it?

Really from what I could tell, the fan hit his glove at about
the moment he could have conceivably caught the ball.

I'd hate to think Sveum is already in post-2008 Lou Piniella
mode already. How do you at least not argue that?

I assume the rule is discretionary, but I think it should be
called whenever contact is made with a glove that is making a
       play on the ball.
