Travis Wood just took a leadoff walk in the 5th inning.
Surprisingly, it's his first career walk. He's a pretty good
hitting pitcher, and doesn't seem like a complete all-or-nothing
       guy like Zambrano was.

Unfortunately, DeJesus follows the Wood walk by grounding into a
       double play.
That was an easy double play ball, but Wood really went hard
into second base on his slide. There really is a lot to like
about Wood, I think. He's definitely not one of those pitchers
who is worthless any time he's not pitching.

Highlight reel diving catch for Castro.

Wood is dealing again tonight. 2 hit shutout through 5 innings,
       both hits from Mesoraco.
He has thrown 71 pitches, though, and Sveum has had a pretty
quick hook with Wood. With Choo and Votto coming up next
inning, there's a good chance Wood will have to throw enough
pitches to get pulled after one more inning. Would be nice to
add on a few runs here.

JD just referenced this inning from this date in 1959:
       --- Quote ---
       >
       > 1959: The WHITE SOX scored 11 runs with only one hit in the
seventh inning of a 20-6 rout of the Kansas City A's. Johnny
Callison had the hit--a single. In the inning, the SOX were the
recipients of 10 walks--five with the bases loaded--three Kansas
City errors and one hit batsman.
       >
       --- End Quote ---
Sounds like the kind of sloppiness the 2013 Cubs are capable of.

Choo HBP on the first pitch of the inning. 10 already this year
       for him.
Here we go again...this feels like "the inning" tonight.
Cozart flies out on the next pitch, though. Maybe not.

Wood makes Votto look silly on an 0-2 count. Nice.

Camp warming up in the bullpen for some reason with Wood at 78
pitches in the 6th inning, two pitches after making the best
hitter on the planet look ridiculous. Why?

Bruce leads off the Reds 7th with a homer. Still a 2-1 Cubs
       lead.
