       If this mess starts to move a little more east instead of
       northeast, today's contest might have a chance.  And then we'll
       see if the missing post problem goes away.

       RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY…: The Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers were
       rained out last night at Wrigley Field
       after Tuesday’s evening series opener (a 4-2 Rangers win) … it
       was Chicago’s second rain out this
       homestand as the Cubs and Brewers were washed out, April 10
       (that game will be made up as a split
       doubleheader, July 30) … Chicago had just one rain out last
       season, May 1 in Cincinnati.
        The Cubs previously had two rain outs in a homestand
       back in 2011 … April 19 vs. San Diego was
       rained out, and made up as a split doubleheader the next day …
       April 27 vs. Colorado, the final
       contest of the nine-game homestand, was washed out and made-up,
       June 27.
        Today is Chicago’ssecond of 17 games against the A.L.,
       including 13 games against A.L. West clubs
       … following this series, Chicago’s next interleague series takes
       place May 27-30 with two-game sets
       against the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field (May 27-28) and
       Wrigley Field (May 29-30).
        The Cubs own a 108-128 (.458) all-time record in
       interleague play dating to 1997 … Chicago’s most
       recent winning season against the A.L. was in 2007 (8-4) … the
       team went 5-10 against the A.L. in
       both 2011 and 2012.
       ABOUT THE ARMS: Cubs starting pitchers have recorded a 3.20 ERA
       (28 ER/78.2 IP) in the club’s first 13
       games, the fourth-lowest ERA in the National League … through
       the team’s first 13 games last season,
       Chicago’s starting pitchers recorded a 4.72 ERA (and had a 4.98
       ERA through 14 games).
        Cubs starting pitchers have limited the opposition to a
       .216 batting average, second-lowest in the
       N.L. and third-lowest in the majors… in seven quality starts,
       Cubs pitchers have recorded a 1.32 ERA
       (7 ER/47.2 IP) yet have just two victories.
        Chicago’s bullpen has logged a 6.06 ERA (24 ER/35.2 IP)
       this season, second-highest in the majors
       (St. Louis has a 6.08 bullpen ERA).

       Ogando has walked Castro twice, and every lefty is crushing the
       ball.  4-0 Cubs in the third.
