Besides being overlooked by the NFL for quite a while I think
another negative on Trestman is he's cerebral and not
particularly animated.
Chicago fans (especially those here) like their coaches to be
running around yelling, screaming and cheering like Ditka and
Wanny.

We prefer them not to be a corpse on the sideline

The candidate who interviewed for the Bears head coaching job
cautioned that Trestman "might not command a great presence in
front of the group," but added "he has really changed for the
better" through his experience as a head coach in the CFL.
Like former Bears coach Lovie Smith, Trestman isn't considered a
fiery leader who yells at players to get across his points.
Trestman has been described as soft spoken and cerebral. But
history has proven that such an approach can yield success.
Do you guys really want a coach that is soft spoken and
cerebral?
Personally, I think you'd want a HC especially one that is
calling plays in the heat of battle to not let his emotions get
the best of him.

Don't be too quick to dis Bevell. He was a very heady QB for
the Badgers and led them to a Rose Bowl win they had no business
winning. He was poised and never seemed to make a mental
mistake. He got a lot out of a little talent. He was Alvarez's
leader on the field.
He did a very good job coaching in GB and was well-regarded by
the Pack.
HC is all about leading and co-ordinating other coaches as well
as all the other requrements as HC. Bevell has done well
within the sphere that he has operated.
No one can predict success but it wouoldn't bother me to bet on
Bevell.

Arians is considered to be a little more fiery, in-your-face
guy.
Trestman is more cerebral and reserved but still commands
respect with his players.

I'm not really discounting Trestman but one thing I like about
Arians is that he has done it with guys in the NFL recently
whereas for Trestman it has been awhile.
Also, Arians was basically the HC this year at Indy so he has a
lot of that experience already under his belt. We know what his
offense can do in the NFL.

Rumor mill says McCoy was not on board with Cutler and that's
where things broke off.
Which begs the question of why McCoy even agreed to interview
with Emery as I'm sure he had to know the Cutler thing was
non-negotiable.
