Scuttlebutt is that Dennison didn't come across real well in his
interview, at least in part because of timing (Friday, while the
team was completing preps for the Patriots game).
That, combined with the fact that the Texans offense was clearly
overmatched in New England yesterday, could drop him out of
contention.

East-West All Star game is this Saturday with the first
practices for each squad starting today. So Emery is up against
it if he wants to get our new HC involved in any of that talent
evaluation.
East-West game doesn't have nearly the big names as some of the
others will, but it's still an opportunity to evaluate potential
new talent so I hope Emery's got some of his better scouts on it
anyway.

I am very interested to see where Jeremy Bates winds up in all
this.
He could wind up being promoted to OC, being retained as QB
Coach but stripped of Passing Coordinator title, or he could be
tossed out on his ear.
I would put his odds of sticking as considerably less than
Marinelli's at this point.

Interesting article about the Broncos offense with Manning. One
can infer that for most of the season they deferred to Peyton
and let him run his old (surprisingly simple) Indy offense:

Can be read that McCoy was flexible and smart. Or not effective
and Manning had to be his own de facto OC. Or neither or both
or whatever....

McCoy's biggest challenge following the Broncos' playoff loss is
going to be convincing his potential future employer that that
dreadfully passive ending to that Ravens game wasn't his
fault... without throwing his QB, HC or anyone else under the
bus in the process.
But that brings up a potential hot-button topic of how much
latitude Cutler will (or should) be given in the new offense.
One of the gripes against Martz was that Cutler had no latitude
to change plays at the line. the Tice offense was supposed to
"fix" that by giving Cutler that latitude, yet the results on
the field in Tice's offense were no better than under Martz and
at times, worse. So, does that mean Cutler isn't up to the
challenge of calling / changing his own plays? Were the plays
so poorly designed that even changing from one play to another
wasn't gonna get it done? Or was it more a matter of not having
the personnel to execute the plays?
I have to assume that Emery is putting some questions along
these lines to all these HC candidates he's been interviewing.
I.e., what EXACTLY, in your opinion, is Cutler's ceiling; in
what respects is he going to be a help (or hindrance) to the
offense you want to install; and based on that assessment, how
much latitude would you expect to give him at the line?

I can see why the Cardinals would be hot after McCoy. Outside
of Larry Fitzgerald their personnel on offense is arguably the
worst collection of "talent" in the league. Their OL is brutal,
they have no legit RBs and their QB situation is a joke. If
he's really all that as far as being able make chicken salad
from chicken sh*t, then the Cardinals would be well advised to
open the checkbook for him.

If Emery doesnt get done playing around interviewing everybody
he likely will be investigating the college ranks while the
other teams will be hiring all his first round interviewees.
Only the blind can see.

I think the real dark horse in all of this is Sullivan from
Tampa Bay.
He had an 8-hour first interview, and IIRC George M. and Ted
Phillips were at that one as well. His bosses in Tampa (Raheem
Morris and Greg Schiano) were disasters, but his HC before that
(Coughlin) is gold. So he's got a winning pedigree even if his
current team isn't that good. He's a military guy (same as
Emery and Marinelli). And most importantly... he has been
completely under the radar this entire postseason due to his
team not being in the playoffs. In other words, he has been out
of the media spotlight and has had a lot more time to devote to
personnel evaluation, etc. in advance of his new gig than guys
who have been working for playoff teams.
I'm not saying Sullivan is the guy I want... but I'm saying if
he's the guy I won't be surprised. If he is named HC then I
would prefer to see him paired with a true innovator at OC who
also has history with Cutler -- that would be Trestman -- but
that's probably more a Dream Team scenario than what would
actually happen.

Well I still have high hopes for McCoy and its looking like he
is going to find a warm weather city team to work for. And that
makes me compare Emery to Nero
