but if Trestman comes in as the OC and makes significant
improvement in our O over the next two years when guys like
Turner, Martz and Tice could not, I would expect that would help
his chances of landing a NFL HC gig more than spending a few
more years in the CFL.

I would think that for Trestman to come here as only the OC, he
would have to be a lot more sold on Cutler than Cutler appears
to be sold on him.
If he came here as the HC, his compatibility with Cutler would
still be important but not critical since he would be delegating
the day-to-day interactions off to an OC.
One thing we could be certain of with Trestman in any capacity,
would be that he will challenge Cutler. I would like to think
Cutler is up for that, and if so, it could mean great things.
But if he's gonna get in Cutler's grill to be a better player,
he also needs to give him the offensive system and personnel to
succeed. I think that for all the happy talk about Cutler and
Tice prior to this last season, as the year wore on you could
see Cutler becoming more and more frustrated with Tice.
Especially the questionable playcalling in critical situations
and the ongoing challenge to get plays in on time. By the end
of the year I don't think it would be too much of a stretch to
say Cutler outright despised Tice, and that took a toll on his
play.

So Ariens, Testman or McCoy would be good with me.

If that JJ tweet is correct and the new HC search is stopped at
Trestman I am saddened. What a farse. Sorry to vent here. Now if
Trestman is the OC/asst HC then I will be much happier. I
sincerely hope Emery has a verbal agreement with McCoy to be HC.
Question: Is McCoy the OC/asst HC in Denver or just the OC?
Cause if Trestman has the HC job can McCoy then become the
OC/asst HC? That wouldnt be such a bad deal. I could be on board
with such a move

FWIW, Marinelli already has the Assistant HC Title with the
Bears.
Not sure there's a rule against having more than one Assistant
HC but it would get kind of wierd to have two of them, wouldn't
it?
Now if they get rid of Marinelli (which I think would be a very
bad idea), then all bets are off.

It had slipped my mind about Marinelli but then Trestman couldnt
be OC/asst head coach either if there can be only one asst HC.
That leads me to believe that Trestman may indeed be the HC and
McCoy is out completely which would not make me a happy camper

I think Gannon is 100% accurate in his assessment of Cutler and
what needs to happen with him.
Whether Trestman is the best guy to do that or someone else, is
Emery's job to determine.

And for all we know McCoy could have put the kabosh on Cutler
during his meeting with Emery and we dont know this

Exactly. People assume that everyone in the league sees the
Bears job as the best gig out there, but not every one of those
candidates may see it that way. If McCoy decided he's better
off staying with Manning in Denver than taking on Cutler and our
cruddy OL in Chicago, that's his call.
I'm sure we'll never know whether the guy we wind up hiring was
Emery's 1st choice but there's always the chance it won't be.

I would think the SD job is a pretty attractive one as well.
With the weather they have, the AFC West, a pretty good team to
start out with as well, I could see someone picking SD.
