I saw on facebook that Hester sold his Gurnee IL house. That
doesn't look good.

I wonder if Hester could be like, clinically depressed or
something. I know he's taken a few concussions in his career
(diagnosed or otherwise) and those can start to alter your
thinking if it happens often enough.
Some of his comments and actions of late sound like he could use
some professional help. I hope someone on the Bears cares enough
to at least nudge him in that direction.

Maybe he's just tired. At some point, most of us become less
enthused. You have to wonder about the blocking on the returns
though. Seem to have dropped of a bit.

It's the dancing around, the running backwards / out of bounds
and the really bad decision making (fielding punts inside the
10, fair catching when there's room, bringing kicks out of the
endzone instead of the touchback, etc.) that bothered me about
Hester more than anything this season. Stuff that's drilled into
returners at the junior high level already and yet seems to be
completely foreign to him now. Plus the fact that his
indecisiveness caused penalties on our blockers which cost us
even more field positions.
It seems like he left a lot of yards on the field this year just
through fundamental errors and bad judgment... things that have
nothing to do with whether he's lost a step or his blocking
isn't as good. It's like he's not seeing what's really going on
out there and his instincts aren't what they used to be.

Update on HC interviews.
Clements is today.
Dennison tomorrow.
Bevell Saturday.
Arians Sunday.
I believe the date Emery targeted as his hire date was 1/17 -- a
week from today. That leaves the first half of next week for
follow-up interviews and a final decision.
What I find interesting is that two of the candidates --
Clements and Trestman -- have law degrees.

Hopefully thats the bottom of the barrel. We have more than
enough candidates. Lets pare it down to 3 or 4 and get this
process over with.

I wouldn't say Dennison and Arians are bottom of the barrel if
you're talking quality. They're actually both among the 5 best
candidates by most people's estimation and I think we'd be in
great hands if either of them got the gig.
The weakest candidates are actually some of the guys Emery
talked to first... and Singletary.

I could see him just crushing the interview with Emery... and
then turning down our offer in favor of San Diego.
He's got a personnel guy there (just hired from Indy) that he's
comfortable with, and he may decide Phillip Rivers is a less
risky reclamation project than Jay Cutler. Plus, if I were 60
with ear problems and had spent most of my career freezing my
azz off in places like Philly, Pittsburgh and Indy, sunny San
Diego would sure be a nice place to wind up my career.
Not to mention that wins are likely to be a lot easier to rack
up in the AFC West than the NFC North for the foreseeable
future.
