The whole Carimi thing is kind of interesting. His big weight
loss, will he put it back on, and with muscle or fat? Will his
knee ever be 100%, can he play LT, RT, or OG? Where is the best
fit for him to play? Will he have the quickness he had before?

Makes you wonder if Carimi was juicing before the injury.
And at UW for that matter.
When your TEs look more like OTs than your OT does, there's a
problem.

Or maybe he got some bad advice, like lose some weight and your
rehab will be better, so he starts dropping lbs like wrestlers
do...I guess we will never know.

I doubt Emery goes after the DE.
I can see him going after Levitre and/or Long.
I could also see him going after that backup WR/special teamer.
I doubt he goes after a S.
Long scares me, what he will cost, can he stay healthy and if he
can actually still play.

The only reason I could see Emery signing a DE is if he decides
to let Izzy walk.
But that almost seems like creating a hole just to fill it.
Given that Izzy is a solid, versatile veteran who has been one
of our more durable players besides, I would rather see us re-up
him for a couple more years than bring someone new in here.
Especially if we're gonna keep Marinelli and the current
defensive scheme in place.

Izzy can play inside and outside. I'd keep him. It really
depends on who they prioritize as necessary and how much the
cost is. If I remember how the system works is each group has a
budget, Oline, DLine, QB, etc,and I dont think they are going to
break the bank to re-sign every player. Some are going to be on
the outside looking in.

The other thing in Izzy's favor is that in the unlikely event we
do go to a 3-4 scheme, he could add 20 lbs (he's done it before)
and be a prototype 3-4 DE at 6'6 and around 295.

Why wouldn't I?
You are the one who set the standards for better QB's not me.
He meets your standards so...

LOL!!! Too funny. Now what standard did I set? I don't recall
making any standard but asking a question on what was Cutler
being the best QB we had in 30 years based on. Of course you
didn't give an answer.
Wanting a QB to play championship football is a crime?

Sounds like some pretty good standard setting to be a good QB in
your view.
