Tornado supposedly a mile wide about 20 minutes away from the
house. Time to head to the neighbor's basement.

Seriously, stay safe, Jes.

These storms were devastating in Alabama. Some of the video
from Birmingham and Tuscaloosa is just unbelievable. Be safe.

One of the worst tornado outbreaks ever. The final death toll
will likely be in the hundreds.

It takes storms of Biblical proportions for weatherguy to make
an appearance...
Cat-4 hurricane hit the airport in St. Louis last Friday. The
storm system was apparently a once in a generation event.

The chief librarian of the Abraham Lincoln Library was our guest
at Lions Club the other day. She brought with her maps and
travel guides and other interesting information from the 1700's
and 1800's. Some of it was kind of mindblowing. In 1830
Illinois had 157,000 people, yet in 1860 it sent 175,000 men to
fight in the Civil War. Imagine the population growth in 30
years to do something like that. In 1850, 70% of the population
in Illinois lived in the southern half of the state. One writer
stated that the largest city, Springfield, would always be the
largest city because of its location. LOL
Here's a quiz question for Davep to goooooooogle. Lake
Michigan was formerly called by the native Indian, "Big
Stinking Water," but in 1746, it had another name, what was it?
