       @dpbrugler
Illinois EDGE Gabe Jacas (potential top-50 pick) is working out
for NFL teams today. A right hamstring issue kept him from
testing at the Combine or pro day. At 261 pounds today, he ran
       a 4.69 40 with a 1.59 10.

In a related story, pencil sales have gone up in anticipation of
the NFL draft (for those that throw pencils when the draft does
       not fall their way.... :D

Every year get those players you just think would be perfect
fits. Mike Washington Jr. with pick 57 or 60 would be my
       selection.

Ran a 4.33 40 at combine. You can see his speed on tape. He
also does not shy from contact. He reminds me a J. Gibbs, I bet
Ben Johnson is on the table for him, if he is even there.

Caleb is with his receivers at USC showing his dedication.
Left tackle is still a concern with Trapillo likely out all
season and the Cleveland tackle looking like a long shot at
being useful. Braxton Jones has reportedly put on a lot of
muscle so maybe he’ll be healthy and improve. Can Benedet improve
his pass blocking in camp this summer? Roushar the OL coach
made it clear he didn’t see a starter on the roster. Taylor
Decker is the obvious free agent option but he has said he
doesn’t want to play for anyone in the north.
A lot of mock drafts have Kayden Proctor going to the Bears.
He’s huge with good feet but has trouble controlling his weight
and expecting him to start as a rookie may be asking a lot.
Is the Bears defense the one that couldn’t stop Joe Flacco or
the one we saw in two playoff games?
They let four starters walk. Two have been replaced and I think
       are improvements.
There’s a lot of work to do in this draft. There seems to be a
consensus that there are only about 15 legitimate first rounders
and then about 30-40 guys about equal. I can definitely see the
Bears trading back in the first especially if Ty Simpson is
       still on the board.

Not with any specific targets in mind I'm thinking the Bears
could trade down #25 and trade up #57. I like the value in the
top half of the second round.

Need a partner to trade down but the Bears need quantity.
Unless they have a highly rated guy there at their pick a trade
down is what they will want to do. None of the top guys will be
there at the Bears pick. After that it all gets pretty much
closely rated guys for a long time.

I'm not real concerned now that we have coaches that develop
players and play to their strengths rather than the square peg
in the round hole that we've become so accustomed to.
I'm wondering if this team as a whole is going to be able to
repeat the heroics of last season. Somehow the defense is going
to have to step it up for us to have success.
