It will be interesting this season to see if the secondary last
year was the individual or the sum of the whole.
We'll see if it was the skill of the secondary coach.
That what he will have now can be made into what he had then.

The only thing that saved the d last year was takeaways. They
gave up a lot of yards and a lot of points. We need a solid d.
If Caleb can take the next step and we get a solid d, who
knows.. Expectations will be high.

Who would ever have guessed that Greg Landry once held the
record for single season rushing yards by a quarterback?

Yeah I doubt there was much defensive scheming to stop the one
or two running quarterbacks. Then there were big sLow
linebackers bred to stop the run and cover big slow running
backs.

Did any of you guys see Greg Landry play in the 70s? He was
this big 6-4 QB who was pretty mobile in an era where most QBs
just sat in the pocket. One exception was Fran Tarkenton who
was much smaller but used his mobility to throw not to run.
And you all know that Bobby Douglass set the record after Landry
and it held for decades. Even the speedy Steve Young didn't
break his record.
Of course now we have a different breed of QBs like Michael
Vick, Justin Fields, and Lamar Jackson who have broken the 1000
yard rushing barrier.

My exposure to Landry came in the late '70s when he wasn't quite
as mobile.
