As much as I appreciated Byard's ball skills, his age makes it
difficult to re-sign - could he replicate 2025 production. I
would be okay getting either Brisker or Byard back at our price,
but i think Brisker is still in play. Brisker is younger, we
drafted him, and the last game versus the Rams left a taste in
our mouth.

From the Trib (Biggs)
Bryant, who had four interceptions last season for the Super
Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks. He agreed to terms on a $40
million, three-year contract with $25.75 million guaranteed,
which effectively makes him the replacement for All-Pro Kevin
Byard III. The team spoke openly about prioritizing a reunion
with Byard, who turns 33 in August, but made Bryant the No. 1
target when a second contract couldn’t be reached.
Replacing their most significant free-agent piece in Byard with
Bryant makes the Bears younger. Bryant turns 27 later this month
and while Byard’s veteran presence in the locker room was
appreciated by coaches and teammates alike, Bryant comes from a
winning program.
Poles solidified the second level of the defense with Bush and
Jackson to go along with T.J. Edwards, who will be returning
from a fractured fibula. That leaves cornerback as an unresolved
position. Unless the Bears are fully comfortable with the idea
of handing a starting job to Tyrique Stevenson, they need to
re-sign Nahshon Wright (who played 97% of the snaps last season)
or find another cornerback.

Papa Bear would have marched down to the NFL front office, burst
in and beat Goodell within an inch of his life with a belt. He
would have left with multiple draft picks and a formal apology
from him for attempting to fuck the Bears. George.... well not
so much..........
It just points to someone(s) with an anti-Bear bias (probably a
Packer backer)..... :D

I think Terrell Smith was good in limited time. He was injured
last year. I believe this last year of his rookie contract, so
he will have a lot to play for.

Actually I would demand that whoever made the decision (or group
that did) show themselves and publicly show their reasoning.
That would send the cockroaches running.....

Fine, I want the fucker to explain himself then. I don't
believe he was ever asked the Ian comp question at the combine.
Owners meet at Phoenix 3/29 thru April Fools. Surely, the
commish would have a news conference there.

Agreed, but according to Spotrac, Brisker's market value is the
highest of the remaining FA safeties at around $10M. Bears
can't pay that.
Brisker is more of a in-the -box strong safety and not that
great in coverage. You also have to take into consideration his
concussion history. Bears will sign a starting SS in free
agency and most likely draft another along with more FA backup
types.
Even if the Bears don't re-sign Nahshon Wright (BTW he's at the
top of the Spotrac list at $16M!), there will be a good
competition at RCB with Stevenson, Terrell Smith and Zah
Frazier. But you can never have enough of those guys - so I
expect the draft to address that position too. Both Stevenson
and Smith are in their final contract years and we know jack
about Frazier's abilities.
