@AaronLemingNFL
Adam Schefter was just on @WaddleandSilvy.
- Didn’t seem convinced Maxx Crosby gets dealt but did say he
doesn’t see the #Bears in the driver’s seat for a deal right
now.
- Thinks they’ll go cheaper than Linderbaum at C
(Biadasz/Cushenberry).
- No ties to Hendrickson.
Schefter did note that a lot of these moves pop up out of
nowhere & that he expects the #Bears to be “active” but in terms
of the top 3 names everyone has been talking about, didn’t sound
like much was cooking as of now.

@AdamSchefter
Bears are releasing former Pro-Bowl LB Tremaine Edmunds, per
sources. Edmunds has been a full-time starter in each of his
eight NFL seasons, and he now will become a free agent with 900
tackles on his resume.

I guess all that talk about possible suitors for his Edmunds
services in exchange for a draft pick was as much hot air as the
Raiders being offered multiple 1s for Crosby.

@FieldYates
Between the trade of DJ Moore, release of Tremaine Edmunds and
retirement of Drew Dalman, the Bears have about $44M in new cap
space as of this week. Be it addressing C or fortifying the
defense, Chicago has spending power.

And unlike most teams, the Bears haven't even begun to swipe the
credit card i.e. <a
href="
HTML https://overthecap.com/calculator/chicago-bears">restructure<br
/>contracts</a> pushing money ahead to 2028 or 2029. They don't
have to do it recklessly like Pace did or the soon to be deadass
broke <a
href="
HTML https://overthecap.com/calculator/philadelphia-eagles">Eagles</a>.<br
/> Caleb and Wright still have to get paid. But if they are
determined on grabbing both Hendrickson and Linderbaum, it is
not impossible. It just depends on how aggressive they want to
be while having 4 or potentially 5 draft picks in the first 3
rounds.

Put me down for getting Linderbaum. And Hendrickson would be a
somewhat risky but nice option for DE. And like that article I
posted, they said Mack coming back, I wouldnt be too mad about
that either.

Fix the center, don't give up draft assets and address the
passrush. That would work well I think......

Whoever gets linderbaum has no choice but to make him the
highest paid Center in history.
Can we afford it and is it worth it ?

Think back to how bad our centers were before Dalman…

We all thought Shelton was trash but he did pretty well with
Matthew Stafford and the Rams run game this past season.
Dalman was an upgraded no doubt but part of Shelton's problem
could be the guys next to him when he was with the Bears.
It depends on whether the Bears want to spend top dollar for the
center position and they will with Linderbaum. Biadasz is
ranked a shade lower than Dalman but is better than average. He
was the Rimington winner at Wisconsin. He was a probowler in
'22. He also replaced a perennial pro-bowler in Dallas
(Travis Frederick). And I don't recall any complaints.
Sometimes when we go FA shopping we want to buy the top of the
line but often you have to settle for pretty good and fill holes
elsewhere.

Biadasz signed with someone, 3 years $30 mil. So he is not an
option.
