A lot of the projections have them keeping only nine. I think
that would be a mistake.

Those having the Bears project 9 are probably putting Kiran
Amegadjie on the PS. I don't think he's quite in Velus Jones
territory just yet. Injuries have delayed the decision on what
he can do.
I wonder what they will do with Bill Murray. Will he go on IR
or will they put him on the PS. He did pretty well last year in
the few games he played.
I also failed to mention the QB dilemna - I guess they'll
probably keep Keenum on the roster.
We all know how much we don't like having to to pay for
insurance especially when its not used. In the Bears case it's
not the $ cost, but the roster spot.

Soooo is everybody confident of a much improved Bears team or
preparing for the usual disappointment?

Apparently McCarthy's first Bears game was the "Hester v. Adrian
Peterson/Griese goes off" game. It would be very disappointing
if Allen's defense allowed 300/3 to a rookie even with the best
WR in football going against a rusty Jaylon. All the pressure
is on Caleb to produce. If he plays well against a 3 hour
blitz, the Bears win.

Bears will try to run - but that could be tough against the
Vikes 3-4 setup.
Since Braxton Jones is now the weak link on the O-line, if
Thuney or a TE can help him out occassionaly (neither of the
Vikings interior guys are strong pass rushers), I think CW can
take advantage of a so-so group of corners.
And if Harrison Smith is out ...watch out.
Defensively, its all about the pass rush. As it always will be,
despite a "rookie" making his first start. If JJ is at full
speed and can help negate Jefferson - they have a chance.

After watching what O’Connell did for Sam Darnold last season, I
don’t expect the Vikes to miss a beat with McCarthy under
center.

Last year in Williams first game against the Vikings he threw
for 340 yards and two touchdowns. They lost on a last field
goal 30-27.
The second Vikings game he had 191 yards one TD.
He’s seen the Flores defense. I’m not concerned about Williams
ability to beat the Vikings as a quarterback but more with his
readiness to run the Ben Johnson offense.
