Jed doing a Jed. Draft an underslot guy and try to add an extra
body with the money, leaving the potential star on the board.

Orioles were rumored to be floating somebody to their pick
       according to Law.
Conrad has a nice swing, hits the ball hard. The shoulder
       injury is a concern.

Conrad was good in Cape last summer. what else is there to
       consider?
Just turned 21 this month, so he's young for a college pick.
Hopefully as with Smith last year, his best is still ahead.
No idea, as always. Cubs have seemed to be variably good with
scouting college bats, based on Cam. So that earns some trust.
Obviously Shaw seemed like a college-bat good-scouting, until
now he can't hit a lick. So, we'll see. (For both Conrad and
       for Shaw!).

Will be interesting to see if this "underslot" proves true. To
my recall Horton is about the only underslot they've taken,
right? Think all the other 1st or 2nd rounders have all gotten
full slot or overslot, yes? Since Kantro took over? Guessing
he'll probably get full slot, and the Cubs just liked him
better, at least better than the other slot-available guys.

If we has going to be a late first rounder it would be about a
$1 million difference in value to him.

Not a reach, hes pretty under-rated at this point. I like the
       pick.

Nice things from mlb blurb: "....repeated contact with a simple
       left-handed swing...". "...uncanny hand-eye coordination...".
"...physical 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, he has the strength and
solid bat speed to provide at least average power..."
Time will tell. Simple swing, uncanny hand-eye coordination,
and strength/size/bat-speed could provide raw materials to hit?

Longenhagen heard rumors of a video of a drunk Irish saying
things that some might find offensive.

Agreed. He wouldn't be here at this pick if he hadn't gotten
       injured.

He was on fire before the shoulder injury, he fits the Cubs
model for hitters the last few drafts. I'd guess they trust the
medicals so they pulled the trigger. Dude can rake. reminds me a
lot of Riley Greene, with a tad more size.
