Cubs are #2 in NL and #4 in MLB in home runs.
Not just small ball.
And hitting in clutch. Cubs are batting .329 with 2 outs/RISP
with a .993 OPS.
A good beginning.

Cubs have the largest run differential in mlb. Having played a
couple extra games would seem to hypothetically help, although
those extra games in Japan worked against their run
differential. The big blowout in Oakland certainly helps for
run differential.

Right, but not everyone has hit in Sacramento yet. I mean, there
is an asterisk by that number for the moment.

Yeah, I think that's kinda the point, nice to be able to score
in different ways.
Lots of walks has certainly helped as well.

Cubs snap a 3-3 tie with a flurry of singles and a sacrifice
fly, taking a 6-3 lead.
Taillon is through 6 innings at 85 pitches.
Everybody in the lineup has reached base except leadoff man
Happ.
Let's get some insurance this inning. Kelly, Happ, and Suzuki
coming up.

Merryweather comes in for the sixth and Texas closes the gap to
6-5, led by a Lody Taveras triple. Hodge has to come in to get
the final out, and he does so, K'ing Wyatt Langford.
Cubs have something brewing in the bottom half. Walk to Nico,
then a K from PCA, and now Busch gets hit with a pitch. Could
definitely use some runs here.

Carson Kelly snuffs the potential rally by hitting into a double
play.
Hopefully Hodge stays in for the eighth. Heart of the order
coming up for Texas, including our old pal Joc Pederson.

Another Texas triple, from Josh Jung scoring Josh Smith, ties
the game and takes Taillon's potential win away.
6-6 in the bottom of the eighth, and a pair of errors and an
intentional walk have loaded the bases with one out. And
Swanson smacks one to right-center field and two runs come in!
8-6 with Nico coming up.
Now a double steal from Swanson and Berti as Hoerner strikes out
looking. If Yahoo's graphics are any indication, that pitch
looked very far outside the strike zone. Runners on second and
third with two outs for PCA, who could blow the game open with
another hit.

And he gets one! Single to left center; Swanson and Berti both
score; PCA out trying to take extra bases. Inning ends, but
it's 10-6, Cubs, heading to the final inning.

Cannot continue with Neris II. Dansby just bailed him out.
