Maybe just take a completely different approach to signing
pitchers. Instead of buying 5-6 guys from the bargain bin, why
not spend the entire pitching budget on two guys who are
actually good?

Awful as that was, Pressley doesn't look completely defenseless
like Neris did. He has the pitches if he can execute them.

Not that I'm that thrilled with Pressley, but I doubt Counsell
will pull the plug that quickly.

Good grief. The season just started.
Last season Pressly gave up six earned runs over his first four
outings….and then settled down.
Hopefully, he’ll be better. Tonight was too close for comfort.

It wasn't exactly efficient, but nice outing from Boyd today
against a team that kills lefties. Stuff looked really good, and
he clearly knows what he's doing with it.
Obviously the durability is a major question, but if Boyd stays
healthy, he can be a difference maker for this team.

Nice debut for Boyd today. 5 shutout innings, 5 K's, I don't
recall much of any hard contact. Looked pretty crafty today,
mixing fastball/change/curve pretty nicely. When he missed, he
didn't seem to miss often. First start, so I'm sure he's amped
up with new team and new opportunity and stuff, but fastball was
93, 94, sometimes 95. So not really just a soft-toss lefty.
