Yamamoto makes short work of us in the fifth, and is still at
only 72 pitches.

Tuffy, why is the crowd so much quieter now compared to the "Mr.
Baseball" days with the chanting and noisemakers back then?

Shaw makes a nice play on a grounder but throws the ball away
and is charged with a error.
Fortunately Brown gets Ohtani on a check swing and the Cubs are
out of the inning.

Anthony Banda in to replace Yamamoto. He gets Suzuki, Tucker,
and Busch pretty easily. Still 3-1 after six.

The Japanese teams all have organized cheering groups with songs
for each player. This game is between teams that don't have
those organizations. It would be kind of fun if the Hiroshima
Carp had brought their cheering section to sing Suzuki's song,
or the Fighters for Ohtani, but I guess they couldn't get that
many people to this game, which is crazy expensive.

Brown is lifted with two outs and Elijah Morgan comes in to get
the final out. No further threats from the Dodgers.

Ben Casparius, is in for the Dodgers. He gets Shaw to fly out
to start the inning, then a very long fly to Hernandez in right
for Swanson. PCA coming up, and the Japanese announcers think
his first surname is "Crew" for some reason. They're doing a
close-up on his back with that long name hanging over the
number. We really need to get back to the classic number-only
look while he's with us. And while he's at the plate, my better
half makes the observation that he looks like he could be the
son of Judas Priest's Rob Halford.
And Casparius strikes him out. Going to the eighth, and running
out of outs.

Blake Treinen is in.
He hits Berti on the arm protector to give us a long-awaited
baserunner. And Berti is off and running with the first pitch,
stealing second easily.
Happ strikes out, and Suzuki is coming up. About time we got
the Japanese fans back on our side. But Seiya lines out sharply
to third.
Tucker, Busch, and Shaw will be our last hope in the ninth.

4-1 Dodgers
Still don't understand why Imanaga pulled after 4 innings of no
hit...

Ryan Brasier, who once pitched for the Hiroshima Carp, comes in
and promptly gives up a double into the right field corner to
Ohtani.
And Ohtani comes in with the Dodgers' fourth run on a hit to
left.
We get out of it but Tanner Scott is coming in to close things
out in the ninth.

Conforto makes a nice play on Tucker's fly for the first out.
Busch flies to deep center and it's all up to Shaw.
