...and Logic. Can't have RBs who weigh less than 220.
It's Poles' fault that they have to go "dumpster diving" for an
all-pro guard in his prime and the top FA center this offseason.
But he has to start somewhere which would ideally open up more
flexibilty in the draft. They can then go true BPA in the
trenches.

I’m not so sure paying all that money to Trey Smith is worth it.
A guard can only have so much influence on a game and there are
other good but cheaper options. Dahlman apparently is a good
pass protector nothing special in the run game. If he doesn’t
get bull rushed into Caleb’s face or do the matador thing he’s
worth bidding on.

I kind of agree about paying top dollar for a guard. It's just
not one of the key positions on offense like QB, LT, WR, maybe
HB. But your offense will be trash if you get underperformers
at guard and center. We know that.
If Bears can get 2 quality FAs at guard/center. They can most
likely load up on defense with the 3 of the first 4 picks. DT
is OK now, but needs depth. Obviously,DE is a huge hole right
now with Walker getting released.
Bears will address all starting holes in free agency and create
competition with the draft. First rounder at 10 should start
however.

@greggrosenthal
we spoke to Bears GM Ryan Poles for NFL Daily. He indicated they
are ready to start spending on OL in free agency

Ben Johnson mentions the Panthers adding multiple starting
interior O-lineman through free agency last season as somewhat
of a plan the Bears want to follow. #DaBears

If Smith asks for the moon, they can pivot to Becton. I like
Zeitler for depth, but I'm sure he will still want a starting
job after a nice year with Detroit. The only alternative to
Dalman is an older Ryan Kelly who would still be an upgrade over
Shelton who is actually ranked 3rd FA C in PFF.
I think Young is in the cards because of his mini-resurgence
under Allen.

@Zack_Pearson
Ryan Poles was asked about Braxton Jones. Said everything is on
schedule...
Also said that LT is a spot there will be competition this
offseason. #Bears

Ideally you want to go young on LT which would be very cap
friendly. Maybe Kiran might surprise with the right coaching.
I still can't see Jones getting extended at $20 mil AAV long
term. Maybe get Ronnie Stanley on a 2 or 3 year deal while
developing drafted OT depth who are actually healthy enough to
play from the get go this time.
Unless, the Bears believe they can actually get a starting LT at
number 10. No trade ups please. That is like Ian's only job
right now is to keep Ryan from doing that.

Seeing some people freak out online about what's being released
in the "lying season" is just hilarious. Some of the supposed
deals, proposed trades etc are crazy.
Its called the "Lying Season" for a reason.....
