Would rather have Mack or Young. Sweat may be out of the Bears
price range post-trades.

Ari Meirov
@MySportsUpdate
Source: The #Bears and DB/ST Josh Blackwell have agreed to a
2-year deal worth up to $6M, putting him among the highest paid
special teamers in the NFL. Blackwell was set to be a
restricted free agent, but both sides were able to get a
multi-year deal done.

No surprise but plenty notable. League sources indicate the
Bears will be retaining two of their most valued core special
teams contributors -- Josh Blackwell and Amen Ogbongbemiga -- on
new deals.
I'd imagine STC Richard Hightower pumped a fist this morning.

Blackwell was returning punts near the end of the season (recall
the last GB game). He is a reliable backup CB too.

Ok it's time for the what if shiit ... Johnson is super heavy
on the run game.
Poles is stocking up on somewhat overage albeit high past
performing Offensive Linemen.
If the two are put together ... could a run be made for Ashton
Jeanty ?
OR ... at this point in time , either signing a Defensive End ,
or drafting one with the first round pick ?
Forgoing an Offensive Lineman with the first round pick
altogether?

Yeah Jeanty would seem like a luxury pick, with us still having
OL and DL holes. Then again if we got the best RB in the draft,
something could be said for that. We need a C, period. And a
good one, not some shlub. We need an upgrade at LT, sorry to
the Braxton Jones fans. We need another DE, and another DT.
Thats 4 needs with our first 3 picks, and if we take Jeanty at
10, that leaves 4 holes for 2 picks. Not good math.

This is a defensive line and running back draft.
If they’re not in love with somebody at ten trade back for
another third and get a back or DT who can play.

Is Jeanty that good? I'd like to see his 40 times. The thing
with him is look at his competition at Boise St. The likes of
Oregon St, Wyoming, Nevada, UNLV. He faced Penn St. and
averaged 3.5 ypc. It might not matter since I hear the Raiders
like him.
Bears have free agency and 4 picks in the top 72. Bears now
have 2 starting guards and they still have Bates. Lots of
flexibility.

192 yards and three TD’s vs #7 Oregon isn’t bad.

Saquan averaged 2.3 ypc against KC. With all that attention on
the RB, sometimes the passing game can and should take advantage
with play action and misdirection that Johnson calls regularly.
Absolutely I am punch drunk on going trenches, trenches,
trenches on day 1 and 2. But if Jeanty is truly BPA and guys
like Campbell and Graham are gone, I won't call for Poles head
if he pulls the trigger. If he runs a sub 4.4 at his Pro Day,
he probably won't be there at 10 anyway.

I still have memories of Cedric Benson and Curtis Ennis. I
guess you can name any position and the Bears have a history of
fu**ing it up.
I am not in love with Swift, but geez, half of his carries he
seemed to be getting hit in the backfield. With a better
O-line he'll be more productive and also we should get to see
more of Roschon Johnson and his tough running.
We all got a hard on with the Bears dynamic 3 WRs of Allen,
Odunze and Moore. How did that turn out? Personally, I'd
like to see them sign a veteran FA center and draft one
O-lineman with any of their top 3 picks. The other 2 go d-line.
We've talked about running back as being a need. And it
is...kinda. How about WR? Is Tyler Scott the #3 guy? And
how about safety? Brisker is one hit away and Byard is over
30. Hicks and Owens are solid...backups.
