Occam's Razor certainly suggests that if Wolfe is saying these
things to the press it's because he wants to encourage a trade.

Yeah, you rarely have an agent being this outspoken about a
       trade possibility.
Suzuki at 2 years, $38 million remaining is a huge bargain in
this market. So if they do trade him, the Cubs should be able to
       get a lot in return.

My thinking as well. Including his comment "It's a small
universe where Seiya would consider going."

Seems to me that there has been lots more talk about shopping
Bellinger than Seiya. Heh heh, if we're Occam's Razoring things,
the simplest explanation is that Cubs aren't trying to trade
Seiya and would rather keep his bat with the Cubs. Good chance
that they end up keeping both. Wolfe mentioned "full-time-DH".
As I mentioned, with Bellinger's positional flexibility, there
are lots of games for everybody.

Bellinger is as good as gone.

It wouldn't surprise me if he's a Yankee and we get Stroman
       back.

Yankee's right-field porch might be perfect for Bellinger's
HR-game. That could be a great fit for him.

If they’re sending an excess SP, I’d hold out for Cortes…

What, Cubs are supposed to rule out even discussing Suzuki if
       approached by other clubs?
Apparently that happened and, therefore, have to speak to the
agent due to the no-trade clause.
Nothing to get bent out of shape about.
If Cubs actually trade Suzuki and you don’t like the return,
then get bent out of shape.
In the meantime, it’s just talk and preliminary stuff.
If a trade happens, is it possible that folks might actually
       like the return?

       If Bellinger opts out after 2025, he gets $32.5 ($27.5 + $5
buyout) for the 2025 season, with a 2025 CBT hit of $31.66.
He’s not worth that as of right now.
Maybe he’ll earn that with an excellent season, but right now
it’s an overpay. Therefore, a trade is complicated by that
       reality.
In all likelihood, seems like Cubs would have to take back
significant money or salary to make a trade work for both sides.
Arb estimate for Nestor Cortez is $7.7.
Stroman contract is $18.5 (and another $18.5 for 2026 plus an
       attainable player option for 2027).
Would be far, far preferable for Cubs to get Cortes but Stroman
is the guy Yankees want to move—a non-factor in 2024 post-season
for them and a significant salary hit.
Very possible Cubs not interested in Stroman. Have no idea about
that. Or maybe Cubs kinda like him. Who knows?
What I’m curious about is, in the event of a Bellinger trade,
who the heck gets all those PAs and what is the theory about how
a Bellinger trade upgrades the offense, or even preserves the
       current status quo?
