If we trade Paredes then we ain't trading Hoerner.

So who plays third base if Paredes goes in a Tucker deal? Not
that it should impact the trade in any way, but an open
question.

If they decide Shaw is not ready, I’d move Busch to 3B and plant
Bellinger at 1B.

I asked my wife who knows nothing about baseball other than she
thinks Chipper Jones and Tony Vitiello are sexy if it was smart
to trade 3 or 4 young players who are several years from free
agency for 1 year of a star player and even she said no.

Your wife is Paul Sullivan? Cool!

No way Belli is still around if this happens.

My answer was based on Bellinger not going to Houston. I also
assume he is going somewhere, regardless of whether it’s Houston
or not.

I bet they'll want Shaw on the opening day roster as long as he
doesn't look awful in Spring Training. He seems like a pretty
good bet to be a ROY contender, so they'll want to have a shot
at earning the extra draft pick.
If he's not on the roster, they're going to have to carry Gage
Workman if they want to keep him. So he seems like a decent
choice too.

Maybe we’ll send Shaw back to Iowa to work on “base running”,
and play Workman at 3B for 20 days…

I think they’d be much more likely to try Busch at 2B if
anything, where he at least has some experience (including a bit
last season). And apparently his 3B trial with the Dodgers made
the Morel experiment look like a monster success.

I bet Happ could play 3rd.

corner infielder Isaac Paredes are two players the Houston
Astros are targeting in a possible trade for right fielder Kyle
Tucker, sources briefed on the discussions told The Athletic on
Wednesday.
...A league source said that the Cubs are highly unlikely to
move him, and they seemingly prefer to deal first
baseman/outfielder Cody Bellinger in a separate trade.

Seiya is targeted in possible Tucker trade. Cubs are highly
unlikely to trade him. Perhaps because an actual Cubs-Tucker
trade is highly unlikely. But in the highly unlikely event that
it did happen, perhaps Suzuki would be a part of it? If so,
then the Cubs wouldn't need to be sacrificing any prospects.
