I do think he's a 3B but very skeptical on the hit tool. Not an
inspiring choice.

The Cubs take Cam Smith at Pick 14. Smith is one of my favorite
bats in this class as he has a subtle swing that generates a ton
of loud contact (100th Percentile 90 EV). Love Smith going to
the Windy City
He’s a LSU baseball data analyst. Also explains why the Cubs
picked him.

No. 14: Cubs select Cam Smith (3B, Florida State)
Smith started to raise his stock late last summer in the Cape
Cod League. In that sense, he followed the same path as Matt
Shaw, Chicago's first-round pick last draft. Smith cut into his
strikeout rate thanks to some swing tweaks, and there's no
denying his strength or arm. He might have to move across the
diamond, however, which puts more pressure on his bat. We're
docking this pick just a smidge as a result. Grade: C

So it sounds like his freshman year he struck out to much, had a
swing change that increased his contact but cost him SLG. IF
the Cubs can blend the two swings he could be really fun.
