2B is his natural position, and probably one where he can be at
least average. He grades out that way so far.

Multiple suboptimal choices for the Cubs if Morel proves unable
to improve as a 3Bman. Resign to using Morel as a full time DH.
Move Hoerner off of 2B (or trade him) to allow Morel to play
2B. Let Morel function as a part time DH, part time supersub
(giving regulars a rest at multiple positions while providing
mostly subpar defense). Trade Morel to a team that needs a
starting 2Bman (and big bat). The latter might be best for
Morel's career but the Cubs probably wouldn't be able to get
anything like fair value.

Yes. Aramis Ramirez is an example of a player who got much
better defensively over time. Yet to be seen how Morel
progresses.

Morel at 2B is Minus 1 under OAA and Plus 1 under DRS.
So, better than average? NO.
UZR/150 rated Kyle Schwarber as a very good defensive LFer with
the Cubs (unlike the other above metrics) and has Morel at +5.2.
NO.

Morel ranks above-average in DRS, Rtot, fielding percentage
(which Reb only likes when making one of his tortured arguments,
apparently), DPR, and UZR/150 (where he's #6 of 74 2B with 350
or more IP at second in 2022-23).
But hey, keep telling us what a great idea trading for defensive
whiz J.D. Davis is.
