Something up with Busch? No appearances yet.
[/quote]The Cubs have asked him to change his name to Old Style.

I went back to watch the Brown and Little innings. Brown walked
a guy in his 2 innings, and threw a lot of fastballs. Obviously
control will be the thing with him, and facing good big-league
hitters he may not be able to win with as many fastballs as he
used in the minors. So like every good-stuff pitcher, it's
about command. But, the fastballs that missed were all right
around the zone, didn't miss badly. He looked very smooth and
in-balance with his fastball. Looks like he's pretty close to
having useful fastball control. Threw a couple of breaking
balls, mixed results. Looks like he's got a chance to be very
good, I can understand why Cubs like him.
Little pitched only one inning. Injured one guy with a wild
pitch that bounced and hit the guy's leg/ankle on the bounce.
wild with another up fastball and almost hit another guy. He
looked much less in command and in-balance than Brown. Some of
the misses missed pretty badly. But man, would he be an
uncomfortable AB for a lefty. He K'd a lefty for third out,
he's just blowing in the sidearm fastballs, guy had no chance.
But he doesn't look like he's revised his motion from last fall,
he's still the super-reduced motion; small leg kick and let the
sidearm stuff rip. So much lateral motion, no wonder he's going
to miss the plate a lot, and is going to hit some batters. But
when he gets some of them over, going to be very hard to hit.
Don't think he can ever be a control guy, but *IF* he can keep
the walks from killing him, opponents are not going to like
       seeing him. He's tough.
I'm very optimistic for both of those prospects.

So, Frankie Scalzo Jr. looks like the offspring of Jimmy Fallon
and Carmen Fanzone (or Bill Buckner - choose your generation).

It's got to be frustrating to be a coach and watch guys like Cam
Sanders and Cayne Ueckert (plus thousands of others) be unable
       to put it all together.

Has anyone noticed how badly the Cubs offense has sucked since
they signed Bellinger? Not a good sign.

Michael Busch had a little bit of a sore shoulder at the start
of camp so the Cubs were cautious, Craig Counsell said, but he’s
in the lineup tomorrow: “Good to go and no issues, no concerns.”

Fair enough. There was a reason.

Didn’t see the game, but from the highlights, looks like Morel
had a *really* nice grab on a liner over at 3B today.
This is said too often of other players, but Morel really does
have a cannon for an arm.
       He’s extraordinarily athletic.
Unless his accuracy problems are Knoblauchian, it’s difficult to
believe he doesn’t stick at third.
And if he solves the accuracy stuff, he has the tools to be
       GG-level.
If the change in strategy re: Morel really is down to Counsell,
well, thank sweet little baby Jesus lying in a manger for Craig.
