Bowers is pure BPA if he was somehow gifted at 9. I probably
take him over Rome. And Waldron loves 12 personnel.

I haven’t watched Rome enough to say that, but I have seen his
NFL comp is Jamarr Chase. That works for me.
He’s also obviously at a bigger positional need.
Still…it’s Bowers. He’s the truth. Draft Bowers, sign Higgins,
and take a WR later in the draft.

Lots of mock drafts now have Rome going before our pick at 9.

If both Bowers and Rome are gone, I'll lean to trading back
especially if J.J. if still available. The talent gap between
the top edges is not that wide. I feel like the Bears will
invest in edge in FA instead. And like it or not, Poles appears
confident that Braxton will continue to improve.

I found this interesting but what else we get for the trade down
isnt shown. A second rounder would be very nice

Is there an Olin Kreutz type CENTER that is worth a second
round pick in this upcoming draft ?
We're talkin decade plus dependability to anchor an offensive
line no matter who is QB.
BTW ...
how come nobody ever pointed out that Olin was almost OLINE
spelling wise ?
Like the name was born for the position.

Jackson Powers Johnson from Oregon is the consensus best center
but there are supposed to be 3 good ones.
Johnson could even go late first round according to some.
If they go with a rookie qb an experienced center would be
better for now.

JJ wait until next year and you can draft Olin at center.

I like this the best I've seen:
HTML https://bearswire.usatoday.com/lists/nfl-mock-draft-roundup-2024-bears-land-caleb-williams-rome-odunze-first-round-projections/?newsletter_origin=bearswire.usatoday.com&newsletter_post_position=1&email=***redacted***
Yahoo! Sports’ Nate Tice has the Bears drafting a quarterback
not named Caleb Williams and pairing him with a nice weapon.
Round 1, Pick 1 (from CAR) – QB Drake Maye, North Carolina
I think Maye or Caleb Williams are top-notch prizes for this
draft, but Maye has been my pick for the Bears for months now.
He has a great combination of size, athleticism and arm talent
worthy of the No. 1 pick, with the Bears in a prime position to
bolster the talent around him and hit the ground running.
Round 1, Pick 9 – TE Brock Bowers, Georgia
Nabers and Odunze are off the board so the Bears instead go
with perhaps the best offensive weapon in this draft. Bowers can
line up all over the field and provide an interesting queen on
the chess board to deploy for creative offensive coordinator
Shane Waldron. The Bears have just extended Cole Kmet, but their
skills would not clash as Bowers can simply align as a slot
option. With DJ Moore out there and perhaps a couple of interior
offensive linemen sprinkled in, Maye will have a strong
situation to step into in Chicago.
