The real dream scenario, no matter how it happens, is that the
Chicago Bears finally draft a quarterback who becomes an
excellent player, a true "franchise quarterback".
The fantasy dream scenario is that the Bears have someone other
than Caleb Williams rated as QB1 in the 2024 draft, they are
right in their scouting, and the Commanders give up a ridiculous
package to move up one spot. The Bears gin up a frenzy for
Fields in trade.
They draft Maye (or whoever), a top center, a pass rusher to
complement Sweat, more interior line help (offensive and
defensive), and an Eddie Jackson replacement (same instincts but
tougher and a better tackler) .
Git er done, Poles!

You listed almost all critical positions of need except one -
wide receiver. Right now the Bears have Moore, Tyler Scott,
and Equanimous St Brown as starters with Velus Jones as a
backup.
Almost all of these needs can also be addressed in free agency.
(Also add depth at halfback and TE).

They need to be careful with Eddie Jackson.
Yes he’s injured a lot and not especially physical.
But he’s the quarterback of the defense and the defense was
markedly better when he played.
I would consider discussing a pay cut with him but I’ve heard a
couple of personnel guys say his leadership on the field is in
demand by a number of teams so he’ll likely get offers.

I was watching a video of all of Caleb Williams plays vs Notre
Dame in 2022 and he was amazing, like Mahomes amazing. I also
watched the same kind of tape of him vs Notre Dame in 2023, and
not so good. Very tough decision to make, after watching what
Mahomes can do yesterday.

In 2022 he had better players surrounding him.
This year opponents got pass rush with 3 linemen. Opponents
when they were good were getting touchdowns every possession.
He started playing hero ball and took too many risks.
He’s a tough evaluation to me

Eddie Jackson negatives: durability (12 games in 2022 and 12 in
2023), touched the ball 5 times in '23 (1 pick 5 PDs), tackling
numbers way down from '22 in same number of games, no TFL, no
fumbles, no QB hits, approximately $18M to be paid for 2024
It's hard for us to judge leadership and yes, Bears suffered
with Elijah Hicks in the lineup, but Bears need to sign a FA AND
draft another FS in rounds 3 or 4. The pay and the production
for Jackson are way out of whack.

And the Bears have so much superior talent. Sure and the man in
the moon eats green cheese. Its why the Bears are 7/10. Cale
Williams isnt the missing link. If somebody thinks that they
belong
in the funny farm.

I agree that its a tough eval. They said the same things about
Favre and Mahomes about being risk takers too.

So the Bears draft Caleb Williams #1 and trade Fields for poop
and go 3/14 next year. Would that make all the fans happy? I
sure dont think so.
