IMHO, the ONLY way Poles royally f*cks this draft up beyond
repair is if he drafts anyone other than Caleb Williams at 1.01.
If he drafts Caleb, he arguably may have drafted the most
talented QB in the division, will be best QB in Bears history
and could possibly threaten or break Kramer's passing season
records in year one. Justin will fetch at least a second and
       another pick.
If he likes Daniels or Maye more than CW, then trade the f*ck
       down!
If he decides to keep Fields then MHJ and possibly another
future 1st rounder and other picks is right there for the taking
at 2. If he decides losing out on MHJ is worth even more picks,
a second trade down is possible with another 1st rounder in tow
and more picks because a QB will be slotted there. If Fields
breaks through on the field, Poles will have the extra picks to
add more new cost controlled talent to a young up and coming
roster that should be able to cushion the financial blow if
Fields is cashes in at a market value of $50 million per year.
So many options. Glass half full.

What good does Caleb Williams do the Bears when he is dead on
the ground because of the rotten Oline? Please do think about
that. You just cant keep sticking that cart before the horse.
       Yes
CW is talented, but even with all his talent he wasnt successful
last year at SC because of poor talent.

So let's meet halfway. If the Bears get CW and an LT at 9,
would that make you feel better? I wouldn't be against it.
You just cannot let the current OL determine whether you draft a
talent like CW or not. Just because David Carr, Bryce Young,
Justin Fields, or fill in the blank QBs in the majority of the
NFL get destroyed behind bad lines doesn't mean getting a bigger
Maye would solve anything. Believe it or not, the Bears OL is a
little better than the year before with hopefully a more healthy
Jenkins, a 1st round hit in Wright, and a developing Jones. In
Seattle, Waldron has schemed around a horrible line with among
other things more 12 formations and quick throws. Poles has the
money and draft capital to upgrade at C and get depth up and
down the line. Hopefully the Bears have the right coaches to
teach them. You don't think former OLs as GM and asst. GM don't
realize how important solidifying the OL is because the Bears
don't have 2 or 3 All-Pros on the line right now at this very
       moment?

The Bears OL is improved, with Wright at RT and an improving
Jones at LT. Center is a large problem, but can be addressed
much lower than the first round. The same goes for guards.
I would like to see them trade down once, (it would be
outstanding to get a top 5 pick plus extra) and then use their
first round picks to get the best receiver (there are three that
are worth a first round pick) and the best edge rusher
available. The rest of their picks, and free agency, can easily
be used for the rest of their holes.
I hope they keep Fields, but they can still get a developmental
QB later in the draft if they are not sold on Bagent.

Jones actually had a better rookie year than Wright did in my
opinion. Wright just wasn't consistent but you can see has
talent. What I noticed in Braxton's sophmore year was he wasn't
given help as much as he was his rookie year. Bears over the
last few years must hold the record for 6 and 7 man pass
protections. What this does is take away safety valves for
Fields. All the really good QBs dump off to RB/TEs when nothing
is open. Of course we don't know if Fields given more of those
opportunities would do so. But that's another discussion.
I agree with you as part of me wants to stick with Fields, draft
MHJ and snag Alabama's edge Turner over Latu. After free
agency and the 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds for center, backup guard,
       safety and DT.
And we havn't discussed this much but do we need to land a
halfback in the draft or free agency?

Well if they’re drafting MHJ they probably got a high second in
a trade. I would like to get the Oregon center or any of the
       top three.

I think this is what you have in mind and I would agree:
"Matt Miller (ESPN) has his first post-Senior Bowl mock draft
up. It has the Bears standing pat and taking USC QB Caleb
Williams (first) and Penn State Olu Fashanu (ninth) with their
       top-10 picks."
I like that. It doesnt mean that would solve all the Oline
problems, but having bookends would be a start in the right
direction. Guards and centers are easier to acquire.

I am leaning towards taking CW. I love Fields attitude and his
humility and am ok if they do decide to stand pat with him, but
I just cannot see how you pass on a talented guy like CW....I
       just cannot see it...
