Ryan Bates sounds like a good backup at LG C RG.
[/quote]
He's most likley the starting center at this point, but at worst
the backup at either guard spot.

So many UFAs just sitting out there. Poles likes to wait a bit
and not get into too many bidding wars, but there is plenty of
young (< 27) talent at safety, DE, TE and WR.
Bears have only 5 draft choices and aside from the first 2 you
can't just assume those selected later can just plug into
starting spots. Poles has to be very active...question
is...when?

The release of Morse makes me question why Poles let go of a
draft pick for his backup.
So I guess I shouldn't be surprised if he does something weird
like pay Saquan.

Which means if Halas Hall has any brains they still draft a
decade long CENTER no matter what draft pick it takes.
If we are going to do this let's do it right.

It also makes me question why Buffalo traded Bates knowing that
they were going to release Morse a few days later.
Answer: They moved a backup G to Connor McGovern's spot and
McGovern is now their center currently.
And Morse is about to turn 32 and was graded 20th in the NFL
according to PFF. And I don't know that Poles knew Morse would
be released.

@Johnathan_Wood1
Chicago is currently 29th in offensive spending for 2024 with
only $74M cap dollars committed to the offense, more than $40M
below NFL average.
They're 12th in defensive spending with $100M committed, $12M
above NFL average.
Clear where investment is needed this offseason

It did me too, I was scratchng my head asking the same question.
Then I said but the man wanted Bates before. Maybe he saw more
in Bates than Buffalo did.
and maybe Bates is the backup at all 3 positions and that we are
going after the starter in free agency when its time to bid on
FAs.

Certainly we need 2 starting guards and a starting center yet. I
dont know if Carter is good enough to be 1st backup The clown
from Tennessee should find a new home. He failed to impress me.
And we dont have the right draft picks left to invest in OGs
Lets see if Poles can pull a rabbit out of his hat in FA. He is
supposed to be a Oline expert.
