Brothers at QB I don't know what to think.
On the one hand I have seen steady improvement of Fields.
On the other hand some QB coming out of the combine is the be
all and end all to our prayers.
I suppose we should all let the combine play itself out.
       What say you ?

Here is my best guess of what is going on with Fields situation.
I think Poles already has a deal lined up with Atlanta. He is
at combine listening to offers for the #1 pick. He has not
pulled trigger on the Atlanta deal until after the combine is
over to make sure someone does not blow him away with haul for
       #1 pick.
My prediction is shortly after combine is over Fields will be
traded to Atlanta. Bears will stay at #1 and either take
       Williams or Maye there.
I am guessing we will get Atlanta's 2nd rounder (pick #43) this
year and some type of performance comp pick next year. i.e. if
Fields wins so many games, throws for so many yards, etc Bears
       get a 3rd rounder.
Bears go hard after WR, C and DE in free agency.
       [/quote]
I think I'm starting to accept that Fields is going to get
traded. We all like his dynamic escapability and runs but
       here's a stat.
After those 2 games against Washington and Denver in early
October where Fields threw for 4 TDs, Fields didn't have one
game where he threw for more than 1 TD. In fact of those
remaining 8 games he had 3 games with zero TDs. Maybe it was
Getsy's fault. Or the O-lines. Or the receivers not named DJ.
       Or maybe its Fields.

It’s hard when you’re only throwing 22 passes and several of
       those are screens.

I agree - Getsy was at times crazy conservative. But I know
when Bagent had to sub in for some games that immediately the
ball was coming out quickly and on target. We didn't see the
him sitting in the pocket and getting pressured nearly as much
       as Fields.
Not saying that Bagent is the answer. He's got his limitations.
I couldn't wait until Fields got back. But you could see the
quick decision making and the ball coming out quickly with
Bagent. I don't know how many times I'm screaming at Fields on
TV - throw the damn ball - just throw it!

       So what happens at 9?

       Who knows?
Probably depends on what happens at #1. And what happens in
free agency. Poles could go WR or DE...maybe trade down. DT
is a big need too, but don't rule out BPA.
Folks have talked up the top centers past R1, but there's a
couple elite centers in free agency that might be available.
Finding an edge guy in free agency is always difficult.
It will be interesting to see if the Dolphins have the cap to
       re-sign Wilkins.

Wonder what they'll get trading Fields...hopefully a productive
       player and a relatively high pick....say, a wideout and a 2nd
       rounder...

Listened to CHGO podcast with Jim Miller as guest yesterday.
Jim brought up some good points of keep Fields and still draft
QB #1. Let the rookie sit and learn, all the while letting
Fields have one more shot. If Fields succeeds you franchise tag
him and trade him for a bigger haul than you are being offered
       now.
After listening to Jim Miller, I am on board with that idea. If
all we get for Fields is a 2nd or 3rd rounder, let's roll with
him 1 more year and see what he brings. Worst case scenario, he
does not perform and gets yanked middle of season and the rookie
QB gets inserted and Fields walks away a free agent next year.
Best case he excels in new system and his trade value increases.
Now it all comes down to trade value. What are the Bears being
       offered?
If I am bears I tell Atlanta I want the 43rd pick and swap #8
for #9. That would get it done for me. Anything less I keep
       Fields for another year.

I know its lying season and all but expectations to get even a
conditional 2nd for JF1 is not looking all that great. It
appears that Blank prefers Cousins or an established veteran and
just might overrule Fontenot on this.
This is not Smith/Mahommes. And Lucas mentioned that the
Fields/Dalton/Foles dynamic was not exactly warm. I kinda agree
with Miller to hold Fields if Poles cannot get the proper value.
But man the unenviable job to massage the massive egos of these
2 young and very talented QBs will require all hands on deck
from the president to the front office to the coaching staff
       24/7.
