Signed Rams center Shelton.
He started the last 2 years with a PFF grade 66 making him 17th
ranked center and 12 against run.

Oline appears set but doesn't rule out Bears drafting a center
in say round 4.
Still need a FA WR to replace Mooney. Draft should snag at
least one WR - many expect Nabers or Odunze there at 9.
FA WRs include Hollywood Brown, Curtis Samuel, Josh Reynolds, DJ
Chark, Cedric Wilson, KJ Osborn or maybe Michael Gallup of the
Cowboys gets released. Mike Williams is also out there now but
he's coming off an ACL. Maybe a one year deal. Assuming the
Bears draft a top WR, this guy doesn't have to be a #1 or #2 and
most of these guys aren't.
BUT, what about DE and maybe a DT to take the place of Jones.
Heard Wonnum is being interviewed. Or maybe they wait until
round 3 but pickings will be slim.
There's quite a few backup type DTs still in play. Armstead is
the big name. But how about a Sebastion Joseph-Day or a Sheldon
Rankins. Just need a rotational guy.

Before this I was thinking if the big 3 WRs are gone we trade
down 9 and draft Jackson Powers Johnson:
Chicago has found itself a new center.
The Bears have agreed to terms with Coleman Shelton on a
one-year contract, the team announced on Thursday.
Shelton, 28, entered the league in 2018 as an undrafted free
agent but had been with the Rams since 2019. He has appeared in
73 games with 32 starts, including starting all 17 games for Los
Angeles in 2023. He was on the field for 97 percent of the
team’s snaps last season.
Shelton has familiarity with new Bears offensive coordinator
Shane Waldron, as Waldron served as the Rams’ passing game
coordinator in 2019 and 2020 before becoming the Seahawks’ OC in
2021.

DJ Wonnum to the Panthers - 2 years $14M
DJ Wonnum was reportedly scheduled to visit the Chicago Bears on
a free-agent visit on Thursday.
That won’t happen.
The Carolina Panthers got the first visit with Wonnum. And they
wanted him so badly that they did not let him leave the facility
without a contract. Now, the Panthers have a new free-agent
signing at defensive while the Bears go back to the drawing
board. Tough break.
I thought Wonnum was coming to Chicago before Carolina. I can't
for the life of me predict what Poles' plan is now at DE
(assuming he's drafting Williams at 1).
Is he going after Chase Young or going to buy some time with a
shorter deal for Clowney? Mike Danna is still out there...

Seattle trading for Sam Howell when all they have is Smith makes
me skeptical Poles is even trying to trade Fields.
He’s also handling free agency like maybe he thinks he’s going
to have more top 100 draft picks than he does now.

Finally a GM with TRENCH experience that knows the trenches
must be built as the foundation of a team.
Now it comes down to the QB carousel at Halas Hall as coins are
flipped in endless routines.
This guy ?
Or that guy?
This guy ?

Anyway they understand a good bench on OL.

It appears that he never really was on the trading block. The
Bears are waiting for CW's top 30 visit and medicals after his
Pro Day. Poles will probably do top 30s with the other QBs as
well.
Would a JF1 trade have been consummated if CW and the Bears
agreed to do his top 30 immediately after the combine? Who
knows...

The pick going to the Chargers is the earlier of the Bears’ two
fourth-rounders, 110th overall, per source. Chicago still has
the Eagles’ fourth-rounder, 122nd, which was acquired in a
Philly trade up last year.
