The Braves might try to use Lopez as a starter depending on how
the rest of their offseason goes.
Lance Lynn back to the Cardinals for 1 year, $10 million.

I’m hearing the Cubs have talked to the Blue Jays about Bo
Bichette, who would play 3B for the Cubs. This was first hinted
at by @KFidds yesterday and @jonmorosi mentioned the Cubs
interest in Bichette last year. Bichette is signed through 2025
and would cost big return.
KFidds is followed by the Cubs bloggers.

They lost Chapman, why would they trade Bichette?

Bichette is a good hitter. He's got two years of control left,
so not totally a rental. He'd be very expensive to acquire.

I likewise wonder why Toronto would want to trade Bichette.
But if they do I can only assume the cost would be prohibitive.
It’s also a bit of a leap of faith that he could play 3B well,
since he’s only ever played SS in the majors.

..Hoyer decided the tank was done. The team wasn’t in a 2014
place where the talent was coming. ... it was stopped to sell
tickets and Marquee subscriptions ... The Cubs have a limited
pathway to get from 83 wins to better. The farm system isn’t
going to lift them. Hoyer choose a tank ..., he should have
finished it.[/quote]
You state: "The farm system isn’t going to lift them". Hoyer's
current plan assumes that it can. I believe that *IF* the build
is going to work out, that the farm needs to contribute
significantly. With a system ranked top 7 by media sources, and
as high as 1st by Fangraphs (?), I am hopeful that the farm
system will help.
We don't have ANY star position prospects comparable to what
Bryant, Soler, Schwarber, or Baez were perceived to be. 2014
with Baez-Bryant-Schwarber-Almora-Russell-Soler, that was a
pretty remarkable convergence of high-draft, high-upside
prospects. Five top-11 picks and a $30M-bonus guy, that was
pretty amazing.
But yeah, I'm optimstic that our arguably #1 system will provide
a number of asset guys that could make the build succeed. No
guarantees, for sure, and absolutely it's a different plan from
2014.
