BA on Hope.
An athletic outfielder and lefthanded hitter, Hope turned in the
third-best run time at the 2022 East Coast Pro, clocking a
6.34-second 60-yard dash time that trailed only Georgia
outfielder Kyle Henley and Florida shortstop Adrian Santana.
That’s an 80-grade run time and makes Hope one of the speediest
players in the class. Despite that speed, he played right field
in high school, though scouts believe he can certainly handle
center field at the next level. Hope has a line drive-oriented
swing from the left side, with quick hands, but has shown a
tendency to expand the zone and chase at times—particularly
against secondaries. His overall bat-to-ball skills will need to
improve as well and both of those offensive questions were on
display at the 2023 MLB Draft Combine high school game, where
Hope went 1-for-5 with four strikeouts. Hope has been cross
checked heavily this spring, but the North Carolina commit is
expected to be a tough sign and could become a dynamic runner
and defender in the ACC from day one.

@IvyFutures
Zyhir Hope is a physically impressive player that lines up in
the OF and at LHP. He'll reach low 90s off the mound. It was an
up and down year at the plate, but impressive talent. Could be a
difficult signing here to keep him from reaching UNC campus.

No, the draft-and- follow only applies to guys taken in rounds
11-20. Rosario is under same signing deadline as everybody else.

I see Phil has corrected the mistake.

BA Carlos Collazo on Cubs 16th rounder. Seems to be the Ultimate
Wildman with upside:
“I'm curious if the Cubs will sign LHP Daniel Brown. The
Campbell lefty has tremendous arm strength but very little feel
for pitching. He has been up to 101 mph from the left side. He
has also only faced 18 batters in his Campbell career. Of those,
he walked 13 and hit two.”

Well, I now have a new favorite prospect.
Daniel Brown, former outfielder, and now a left handed pitcher
from Campbell College, has pitched in 4 games, and everyone he
has retired has been by strikeout. He has walked 9 batters and
thrown 4 wild pitches in his career, which has been one inning.
However, he can throw 100 MPH.
Sounds like he might be a project for the pitching lab.

Looked at Daniel Brown’s game box scores and the outs/Ks were in
one outing against Winthrop College where he struck out all
three batters he faced.
His other three outings, against Tulane, Duke, Radford, he
walked every batter he faced (9) and WP four of them over.
Think he should have faced Winthrop more often.
If Brown signs, Cubs should match him up against Wilson
Cunningham for a fun game.

Well, after drafting Zyhir Hope, every other pick rounds 12-20
was a college guy.
