He's played at 2B 5 games per fantrax, which is our source of
truth.
We've always been able to petition for position eligibility,
based on usage in real life. I'm not asking for any special
treatment, nor am I making an outlandish request: it's been well
known since the offseason that Betts was going to play a
significant amount of time at 2B in 2023. That the change alters
his value is true of any player that's ever added additional
positional eligibility, which happens all the time. It makes no
sense to single out or prejudice against Betts.
And I'm not "tak[ing] it a step further". Even though it was
well known that Betts was going to get time at 2B, I didn't ask
for it until a clear pattern was established. If you were so
concerned about how additional position eligibility would impact
his value, you could have tried to trade for him. And I'm *not*
asking for SS eligibility. If he starts a ton there, then yes,
I'll ask for that, too, at the appropriate time, as I am now for
2B.
Your arguments ignore league rules, precedent, and logic; and
seem more aimed at hurting an opposing team than anything else.

The current thinking of Curt and I is that he has been more of a
OF and part-time player at 2B, so he would have to wait to gain
eligibility at 16 games. If he is announced that he is going to
be moving to 2B or SS full time as their started going forward
then that would be a different situation and something we would
be more willing to grant.

Activating Joey Gallo and dropping Trevor Larnoch
If anyone is interested in Drey Jameson or Alex Cobb I'd be
willing to trade either for a MI or RP.

It is 100% to block you from gaining an advantage. you are my
competitor. If they announce he's the starting 2bman or
starting SS there is precedent, but if he's just roving all over
the field, players should have to wait till the eligibility
rules are met. otherwise why have them? why not just set the
games needed to 5. By your logic any player that has a few
starts at another position should be "petitioned" and
immediately gain eligibility. His primary position is still OF.

We literally have position eligibility requests like this every
single year. Why is this a slippery slope now?

I wasn’t referring to you…I was referring to the response, which
is different from literally every other response we have ever
had in similar situations.
