Doesn't matter who drafts, the results are the same and have
been for ages. This is why this team is sitting at the
bottom....

I have to think Carolina would be interested. Their first 2
picks (9 and 41), plus their 4th round pick, plus next year's
1st round pick would be enough points.
They have 3 picks from San Fran, so even by trading us their 2nd
and 4th, they would have SF's 2nd and 4th this year.
Not sure we want to trade down that far though. I don't know
that Indy would be willing to pay the price. They don't have a
lot of picks and they'd have to trade #4, #35 and next year's #1
to get there.

That Indy trade you propose would be tough to turn down.

This is exactly right. This doesn't go back 5 years, this goes
back,,, well,, a long time.. And this has happened under many
different GM's. The last good drafts were during the early
80's.. Poles must prove he is capable of changing that...

I don't know how I missed it but the Broncos upset the Chargers
pushing the Colts into the 4 spot. Here's a mock with that
trade down scenario:

Unfortunately, the Cards take the coveted Anderson, who I kind
of prefer over Carter. But both guys are highly rated and fill
a huge need for the Bears.
A better scenario would be first swapping with Houston then
hoping the Colts trade for the second pick with the threat of
Atlanta, Carolina, Seattle, or the Raiders making competitive
offers.

Yes I like that better. But that supposed "trade" with the Colts
doesnt show what else we got by moving down. There had to be
picks or players or both.

I was all over Carter before Anderson, but I read somewhere that
Carter may have some character issues. And the Brad Biggs 10
thoughts article, that no longer seems to be free, had a write
up on the top QBs. He quoted scouts who say Young is way too
small, Stroud they had issues with, but they really liked Levis,
and had him ranked as QB1.

It's only January. The draft projections and mocks will undergo
many changes after Senior Bowl, combines, and pro-days.
For the Bears it comes down to how much they love Anderson. Is
he a 'generational' talent like Bosa or Myles Garrett? And if
the Bears go trade down crazy are the other defensive lineman
that will be available going to be solid picks or will they
turn out like Clenin Ferrell or Soloman Thomas?

@zkeefer
Asked if there is a QB at the top of the draft they want, would
he give up heaven and earth to trade up and get him?
Ballard: "Yes. I’d do whatever it takes."
