Although better than a single A prospect he's about what you'd
expect for Chris Martin.

Here's what Prospects Live staff, reporting about the Dodgers,
said re McKinstry on August 23, 2021….
[/quote]
I think McKinstry has a bit more power than this report says.
BA said a year ago that Dodgers reworked his swing some and it’s
helped his pull power. Some here may remember that McKinstry hit
two homers off the Cubs when Cubs played a series in Dodger
Stadium in 2021, including a grand slam to RF off Adbert
Alzolay. He homered off Arrieta two days earlier to RCF.
His iso power in majors is almost .200 and over .200 in his AAA
career.
So, not a “power hitter” but he will hit some homers. Think more
of an issue as to whether will hit ball hard enough consistently
to hit for average and everything that flows from that.

Dixon Machado to the Giants. He’ll likely start against the Cubs
tonight. Probably for cash.

Cubs get 30 year Raynal Espinal. I guess Iowa is probably going
to need some pitchers soon.

It's probably nothing, but since we're two days from the trade
deadline and he's ben in trade rumors consistently for a couple
years now...Eric Hosmer was just pulled from the Padres game
after the 6th inning with no sign of an injury.

If I were a big league manager, I'd be lifting guys left and
right in the days leading up to the trade deadline just for fun.

Apparently Hosmer is routinely pulled for defensive purposes.

Everyone assumes the Pads are desperate to unload him but Hosmer
is a borderline useful hitter, and they are trying to be a
contender.

Is he though? He had a hot start to season and has been hot
again in the second half. The rest of the time he has been well
below league average.
OPS By Month
Mar/April: 1.054
May: .654
June: .567
July: .733 (1.015 second half)

I thought he was more valuable as a glove, but if he's being
pulled for defense...
