Yeah, but Jed has gotten incompetent and dumb since then.

Considering we had arguably the biggest MLB fire sale in a
generation, I would hope we got some pretty good prospects out
of it. The jury will return a verdict several years from now,
not now, but some of those trades look better than others at the
preliminary stage. And you could argue that the biggest one
(Kimbrel) looks like the worst of the bunch.

Cubs will get, at a minimum, a compensation draft pick after 2nd
round for Contreras, assuming that the trade offers have less
value than the pick——assuming Cubs make a QO to Contreras. So,
there’s always that route if necessary.

He had quite a bit of constraint on him, since Kimbrel asked to
be kept in Chicago because his daughter was being medically
treated by a doctor here, and he was trying to accomodate him.
Reducing the trading possibilities to one team might cut down on
the return.

Rockies extend 37 year old Daniel Bard for two years instead of
trading him when he might be the best available reliever.
They’re not a well-run team.

Trading for a 27 year old utility guy is an interesting choice.

Yeah that's just one bizarre franchise.
Congrats to Bard on his extension though. Great story.

He does have a career .951 OPS in Triple-A though. I guess
maybe we think he might have some talent if he got regular
playing time?
